Mysta on the Internet? A little clue that ties back to Sunday methinks. Mysta must have been the one who planted the news item about Honeymoon’s magnetic fingers, to get her daughter’s attention. Good storytelling, dropping little hints like this and letting us figure it out. Assuming I’m reading this right of course.
tsull2121 and VistaBill: Ghote and Mumbles appeared in the spring of 1979, which was “shortly thereafter” Mysta’s alleged death, at least in “Tracy time.” My personal opinion was that the Ghote episode was an attempt to finish off the killing of the Space Era – Mysta now allegedly dead, Moon Governor had severed ties with earth; all that was left was to drive a wedge between Dick Tracy and Diet Smith.
Even after Diet Smith was aware of the old Ghote’s attempt to defraud him, Smith still believes in him – and is upset with Tracy because he can’t or won’t ask the court for leniency for the good doctor.

I dunno, fellas…Considering how many grotesque, disfigured and generally strange characters there are in Dick Tracy’s universe, I really don’t expect Mysta to be (despite her origins) Miss Universe.But the suspense builds!
“Stellallina, it’s time to remove Mysta’s bandages!”“But why Dr. Sail? It’s not supposed to happen for another few weeks”?“Why??? Because she’s driving Dr. Ghote and I CRAZY with her constant whining, Whaa, Whaa, I want to see my face. I want to see my family. I can’t take it anymore!!!!!!!!”
Hmmmmm,,,, where’s the camera mounted in the car that’s providing the close-up of Dr. Kildare & his cell phone in panel two??? The side door would certainly be an odd place to put a camera. Just wondering!S.I.T.O.A.N.M.I.
i’m thinking its time for another “INTERLUDE” since we know moon maid’s bandages dont come off until the 19th, we’ve got another FIVE WHOLE DAYS to fill!
But what do we fill it with? well, how about some scenes with junior and sparkle, or maybe honeymoon digging thru the internet to find out who posted that ominous comment about her having magnetic fingertips
or MAYBE some scenes of tracy “detectiving” and following leads. :)
ScipioGarling: That’s the “beauty” (?) of this story line – everything turning out “well” will lead to absolutely the most complications possible!
A (successfully) cloned Mysta will pretty much end the story line in a heartbeat – unless Staton and Curtis want Mysta for a new breed of Tracy villains – which I don’t think Space Era fans would settle for.
Any other kind of fake Mysta will end the story even quicker.
I suppose that’s the “suspense” in this whole story line: Just how do Mike and Joe plan to “pull this off” – and what do they intend to do with Mysta, Sparkle, and Junior once they do!
I stumbled across something interesting today — the 12-11-1965 strip. This is from Mr. Bribery and Ugly Christine’s botched attempt to kidnap Honeymoon (Ugly Christine is the “French” photographer). Notice the middle two panels:I had totally forgotten that when Honeymoon was a baby, she not only had magnetic fingers and the ability to shock, but apparently the complete moon physiology(?). Body temperature variation of nearly 150 degrees! Honeymoon is much more of a moon girl than we thought, as Mysta confirms (“We moon people….”).Since Honeymoon’s abilities were mentioned in last Sunday’s strip, I’m wondering even more now how much all of this will come into play in the unfolding Mysta-ry?
…….sure glad I was reminded the bandages don’t come off for 5 more days…..wouldn’t want to experience a little fun anticipation of that happening the next few instead……Anyways, obviously SOMETHING’S going on with the lower part of her face, or why all the bother? And the re-intro of a character that resembles MM but has a beard kind of makes it painfully obvious, as Louie99 above says….the coincidence is too much. Also……think about it……wouldn’t being actually able to bring back someone from the dead who had actually died…especially from being blown to bits…be MORE of an achievement that just cloning them? So why would they try to pass off as a clone the real thing if they have it?
Finally…….maybe Mike and Joe will pull a “Baby Attitude Plenty” on us…..and never let us actually SEE what she looks like with her bandages off….now THAT would be a riot…..NOT!

And AIN’T NO WAY in my humble opinion will Mysta’s face look like anything other than we ought to expect. As in all the pictures we’ve seen of her over the months. Think about it. No way Curtis and Staton would go to all this trouble to bring Mysta back from the dead, only to have her turn out to be some sort of ugly freak. The mask is there for the mystery element, not to hide a beard. That is all.
