As for Benny Hill, it was his people/family who “outed” him posthumously at his own request. The fact that he proposed to women is not proof that he was straight, fact is, most gay men of that generation married women, whether to hide their sexuality, or in some cases , in an attempt to “cure” themselves. Charles Laughton and Rock Hudson were both married gay men. Dick Sargent (The 2nd Darrin on “Bewitched”) was married to Fanny Flagg… he was gay, she was a lesbian and they were “married” as a way to keep their “secrets” from hurting their acting careers.The weirdest thing of this nature that I have read about was when Liberace (Gay piano player) made a trip to England and was charged with the “crime” of homosexuality; he had to stand up in court and perjure himself (claiming he was straight), in order to avoid jail time!

Is the “Midnight Express” anything like the “Midnight Rambler” ? .If dick Sargent were a “real” man, he would have made a better Darrin. You can’t beat the original for over-the-top bombast, which is what made him so good ! Endora never had such a good opponent.
