My cars and motorcycles are registered and I’m licensed to drive them (motorcycle endorsement is separate and requires ADDITIONAL proof of competence!). My concealed carry permit required proof of training , on use, and ETHICS of firearms, and yes I’ve had multiple background checks for license and purchase of firearms.
Simple fact: on a NATIONAL register, (far more effective at controlling traffic than local ordinances like Chicago’s) owners should be on file (as in New Zealand) to show they’re ACTUALLY “responsible” gun owners, and not felons, nuts, or irresponsible “drivers” of those firearms.
I’ve never heard of a motor vehicle being seized unless used in a criminal act (DUII IS “criminal” though a regulation violation, not "law’, in most states), and have no fear of the “black helicopter crowd” taking away firearms either. Heston’s hands ARE cold, and don’t believe he was buried with that muzzle-loader, so even his fears seem “overblown”..
There are two videos shown on the John Stewart show, one ten years ago, shows LePerrier saying he wants universal background checks..the other a few months ago shows him objecting to them. He is a joke and you sir are a liar!
dtrout, guess it is too complicated for you to understand that the conservatives and constitutionalists oppose certain bills such as “universal background checking” because of hidden rules that would call for or allow universal federal lists of gun owners….something 100% anti-constitution.-Obama is trying to use the UN’s new proposed international law to get gun control & federal lists of “arms owners” in the USA. And with the current Senate, we citizens cannot be sure the Treaty would be opposed. Obama then would no doubt use his Executive Orders to install rules as was done with “global warming” and “climate change” to do what the international carbon ban treaty called for, even though the US is not a signatory.
STLDan…my social security number or driver license are not likely to get the Feds to confiscate my car or my retirement benefits. But a Federal List of gun owners could very well lead to confiscation of guns and ammo. SOP in formerly free countries that went totalitarian….even Hitler was voted in…and history repeats itself.
@ disgusted taxpayerWhy is universal registration unconstitutional. are you a well regulated militia? otherwise you are not covered by the second amendment. there is nothing wrong with universal background checks unless you have a criminal record or you have stolen guns which are you?
We already have UN forces stationed in secret camps in the U.S. They will be going to each and every door to take our firearms away. They have black helicopters, tanks and some serious special ops weaponry. Be prepared to repel them with your firepower. All they are waiting for is the signal which I believe will be inadvertently beamed from someones foil hat.
Is Anderson implying that the convicted felons would go through background checks? Of all the groups who would own a gun, convicted felons have the least to fear from a background check that they’re not going to go through.

For all the folks who think they are going to use their guns to take on the Feds — maybe you should take a look at this week’s events in Boston to see what happens when you try that. Just a little refresher course.
1. There were several bills, all blocked by filibuster.2. NOne of them are “Obama’s bills”3. The U.N. treaty intended to cut down sales of small arms to countries around the world having “little wars”, specifically states that there is NO RESTRICTION ON GUN SALES THAT WOULD AFFECT INTERNAL SALES IN THE U.S.!
4. DT needs to stop listening to Limbaugh, at 80 she hasn’t had an original thought in 69 years, and shouldn’t take on Rush’s twisted “interpretation” of the world.
@Bruce4671Thank you for the url to New American article of 3/24/13, it printed 4 pages….about the Inhofe amendment to the Budget Bill (which I havn’t heard yet that it has passed).-There are the Leahy amendment, the Moran resolution, and the House’s Kelly measure. -The UN treaty has yet to arrive in the Senate, requiring 67 votes to pass.-In case the Senate does finally reject the UN arms treaty, as this article says=“While it is unlikely that the Senate would ratify the treaty in its present form…when it comes to disarming citizens of this country, President Obama has shown that he will not be deterred by congressional inaction or by constitutional limits on his authority.” IMO, Obama would then begin issuing Executive Orders. There is a reason that when the Senate refused to pass the gun control bill, Obama put on a Hissy Fit in front of news cameras to be seen around the world. That reason, IMO, is that Obama intends to disarm citizens in the USA and he will do every possible action and trust that Congress and the USSC and the American People will let him get away with it.
