Mom always taught me, when standing in line to the restroom, let the littler kid go first. They probably need it more desperately.

Mom probably pre-planned the eddie request so she could escape without making the purchase.

I would’ve walked out too. How rude! She’s in the store shopping, she didn’t just walk in and ask for a bathroom!

I will not shop at a place that does not provide restrooms. Or has “out of order” on the restroom door.

Toronto recently enacted bylaws which say stores (ANY STORE) over 3200 square feet, must provide enough rest rooms for all occupants – it doesn’t say customers. So if I walk into a store, they need to have a sign indicating where the restroom is, and it can’t require a key to enter – but if it’s a “single use” room, needs to lock from the inside.

    1. Insurance liability. If you slip and fall in their bathroom, their liabel.2. Theft. People use restrooms as a chance to conceal merchandise and remove security tags. 3. Maintenance. people are slobs. Now you need an employee to clean the bathrooms three or four times a day.

I’ve done the same thing. If my child needs the restroom they can’t wait and if I have to leave to take them, I won’t be back.

I remember an old woman who stopped my two-year-old and said, Young man, you don’t run in my store. Walk! I looked at her astonished and answered, He doesn’t know how to walk. He only runs.

But she wasn’t a ‘public’ but a customer.
