Definitely has been a rough start for Obama’s second term. His agenda seems to be having a hard time getting traction. Maybe he will do something radically different and try being a leader. Obviously his “charm campaign” didn’t work. Wouldn’t it be radical if he closed Gitmo, ended the Bush tax cuts, withdrew now from Afghanistan, pulled our troops out of the middle east and Africa altogether, canceled the Patriot Act, pay down the debt by half, and then my favorite, maintain transparency and restore civility to Washington. Oh well, one can dream…
I was being facetious, Scott. sorry.^There were so many people making fun at Mr. McConnall’s expense because of his comment of “Our primary goal is to make Obama a one term president.” This led to cartoons on GC and comedians everywhere talking about how Mr. McConnall might have more success in keeping Obama from being a three term president. Even though a few conservatives expressed concern that Mr. Obama might try to become a three term president…hopefully in jest or sarcasm.^I also agree that killing people like the marathon bombers, eric rudolph, tim mcveigh, and even bin laden is too merciful and makes them into matyrs as well as eliminates sources of info. I posted recently my opinion they should be in a room where they see pictures of why they are in jail every day of their life along with the voices and/or images of survivors who want to talk to them. Whether it’s to forgive them or to taunt them, I don’t care. But just in case there is no such thing as hell, putting them out of their misery without making them regret, repent, and feel real pain and shame for the evil they did is just too damned merciful.And I’ve been told that I am a very liberal voice.No objectivity at all.Take care Scott. Although it makes sense that mental health is a factor, the current state of understanding of mental illness is subjective and uneven. The Commonwealth of Virginia spent 3 years and close to a million bucks on therapists to determine whether the guy in Appomattox who shot 8 family members and neighbors to death might be mentally unstable. Duh.
I have newspaper clippings about gun deaths: how about the mother in Maryland who shot her 14-year-old son because he wouldn’t hand over the remote control? Or the guy in New York who killed his fiancee because of a bid she made in a bridge game? Do you think these people were insane, or did they just allow poor judgement and a handy weapon to do their deeds?
Watch the show “48 hours”, in which cops try to get info about murders before the case goes cold. Almost every show, there is someone who is shot because of an argument or because he owes someone 10 bucks.
I hope you can agree that these people shouldn’t be able to have guns. What to do? I don’t claim to have the answers, but I will say that if we keep doing the same thing, we will keep getting the same result, and it appears gun owners would prefer that these incidents continue to happen rather than to try to do something about it. It is disheartening, to say the least.
HMMMM, I wonder how many other legal immigrants passed through who also hate America? How many of the illegals will become citizens who also hate the USA?
