Mr. Breen’s cartoon isn’t as vulgar as Mr. Benson’s, but is still inaccurate. The devil wasn’t in the race. The devil had left his packages of death and destruction and walked far away to either watch it on the news or perhaps, as some pictures suggest, from a rooftop nearby. Mr. Breen is wrong to suggest the devil was part of those running. Those athletes, professional and amateur, were our neighbors from all over the world come to celebrate an event where the race is run for the joy of it, not for the rewards it offers.I particularly want to salute a 78 year old man that video showed being knocked down by the force of the blast. His knees buckled, he fell hard to the ground, but despite his exhaustion of having run all of those mile, despite the screams and smoke around him, and most of all, IN spite of the devil who had brought fear to a place of joy and triumph, this man- Biff Iffrig – FINISHED the race.To Mr. Iffrig, the responders, the victims, and the people of Boston, we should give honor and heartfelt prayers.Respectfully,C.

“yes we see the work of the true devil, the tea party terrorist devil.”

I realize that flagging your posts is relatively ineffective but I resisted writing an email to the GC support staff about the hateful, vitriolic posting you have done today over this. You are doing just what the real terrorists of the world want, I only hope others will see it in it’s true light.

My daughter is running in the NY marathon and I worry..An unspeakable evil event. But, a speck compared to hundreds of thousands of innocents killed and maimed with shock and awe in Iraq; hellfire missiles wiping out wedding parties; drone attacks with extensive collateral damage. Retaliation on American soil is hardly surprising. .Stop the killing by stopping the killing.

“I’m not sure who you flagged”

It was Omnius and it looks like they pulled his (and Ima’s) comments. I truly feel sorry for him, he just seems saturated with hate. A remark I heard in a 12 step program seems fitting. The definition of Resentments: “Resentments are when you take the poison and expect someone else to die…”

I really do hope he can find some real peace and solace, it’s painful being so bitter.

I do as well. To hate you must have the same intensity of emotion as when you love. I think it is often why people who once had love in their life can become so bitter and negative.

Longfellow wrote: “There’s nothing in this world so sweet as love. And next to love the sweetest thing is hate.”

    Sad but so often true…

I was most impressed by all the folks who ran TOWARD the danger to help others, all of them! I am not impressed by the coward that did this. I suggest if caught, they give him a C-4 suppository.
