Potassium helps, but magnesium is better. Eat magnesium-rich foods like lentils or drink yerba mate tea, which is rich in all kinds of minerals. Since I started drinking it regularly my leg cramps and “night nervous” legs are a thing of the past. And it doesn’t smell.

The doctor told my Mom to drink a glass of milk every evening and she never had another leg cramp.

A tbsp of apple cider vinegar with “mother” before bed works wonders.

Get club soda with quinine. It is nasty but works.

I have been taking potassium and magnesium supplements for years, and haven’t had a leg or foot cramp in all that time. I recently started my husband on the potassium and his epic leg cramps are gone now, too.

The FDA put the kybosh on using quinine for leg cramps years ago, but it keeps popping up as ‘folk medicine’. .The accepted cure is potassium and magnesium-rich foods, (not pills) to do the job. A few centuries ago, the Brits in SE Asia found that quinine was a cure for malaria, but the water dilute of it was still ghastly, but more palatable if mixed with Gin and thus evolved the Gin & Tonic of today. (clink!) Cheers !

Better than pickle juice? I can think of a bunch of things that work better than that, but none of them are any good.

Most tonic water is just flavored, to tell if it has real quinine, put it under a black light and it will glow.
