I believe it was a wise, old sage named George Carlin who said it best…

Can’t built a decent car, can’t make a TV set or VCR. Got no steel industry left, can’t educate our young people can’t get health care for our old people, but we can bomb the XXXX out of your country alright!

The Conservatives not only blindly supported Bush’s military policies, but branded anyone who didn’t support them ‘un-american’, ‘pro-terrorist’ and even, ‘traitor’. ( Anne Coulter wrote a whole book on the subject. )

Compare that with the negaitve reaction from the left Obama is getting for the drone program.

And yet you still see the rightwingers on this forum making snarky comments about ‘Obamabots’ and ‘The One’, and insisting that in the eyes of liberals, he can do no wrong.

That’s REAL hyprocrisy. Falsely accusing someone of doing what you, yourself have actually DONE

Okay, “carpet bomb” two countries, calling it “shock and awe”, (awful because NEITHER COUNTRY did anything against us!) kill hundreds of thousands of people, destroy all infrastructure in the nations, and FAIL to “get” the one guy who led the attacks on the U.S we were supposed to be after, for nearly eight years!

Obama inherits two wars, and goes after members of the organizations that actually DID attack the U.S., and “gets them”, using SpecOps and armed drones. “Collateral damage” still occurs, sadly, but is only about 1/100,000th of what was happening under Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld model.

We’ve “ended” the ludicrous war in Iraq, and are gearing down to leave Afghanistan in an active combat role. That part of the world hasn’t been “safe” for over 2,000 years, so there’s now way the U.S. will make it so, so stop trying and let them handle their OWN problems!

No, without totally accurate ON THE GROUND intelligence to confirm the “target” is the RIGHT ONE, I don’t like using armed drones. But, it does put our folks at less risk than actually having the person on the ground pull the trigger and expose themselves.

I don’t like all of Obama’s proposals, or actions, but it’s a little different than any intelligent person looking at the “W” actions and realizing it’s impossible to support ANY of them!

What’s become of us? Can Democracy and Empire co-exist? I doubt it. The drones are coming home to roost.

    rotfl!

Please explain to me how one gets onto these committees? Merit is certainly not in play, cronyism, someone with a sense humour, someone who is committing treachery by promoting useless gits and plotting your country’s downfall?

Yeah, that certainly would be the way to make friends in the world. Just kill anybody (men, women, and children) that we think might be our enemies, and even possibly just disagree with us!

Just wait until a drone takes out a US citizen on US soil. There is a day coming when they will be used against people right here at home. When the US government runs out of counties to invade it will then invade its self.
