“Rome burns as Nero fiddles.” I don’t think it takes a lot of imagination to figure this one out. Without all the comparisons of “this president did this, ad infinitum” Obama doesn’t seem to have a sense of how the people scrutinize what their leaders do. The “folks” as we are called, hear of nothing but extravagance and wasteful spending coming out of Washington and this concert fits that description. We expect entertaining for visiting heads of state but when they are cancelling tours of the white house this concert seems to be ill timed. Obama just seems somewhat oblivious to such things, I think they describe it as being tone deaf as to the voice of the people.

I guess the guy in front of Uncle Sam represents the taxpayer getting…well, you know. Just like us.And by the way, the debt was $6T when Bush 43 took office, $10.5 T when Bush left office – and it is $17T now. That makes $+$4,5T increase for Bush in 8 years and $6.5 T increase for Obama in 4 years. Not the last of the big spenders, only the latest. And the biggest.

Clinton had a surplus after his 8 years as President, and dubya frittered it away to plunge us into the depths of a recession in a few months. Quit lying.

There you go again with the insults! Is that the ONLY way you know how to debate? Is that what they taught you in your supposedly 30 years in the military? If so, I must admit that I sure am glad that our military is actually controlled by our civilian government. Good grief, but it gets tiresome coming on here and seeing these kinds of comments (and yes, by anybody, conservative or liberal). Adrian seems relatively moderate to me at least. Of course, to some of our ultra conservatives here anybody to the left of the likes of Rush Limbaugh is some kind of a Communist! Or are you even who you claims you are, and not just some disgruntled teen age kid with a computer? If not, then prove it by stopping with the insults!!

the moral of this cartoon IMO is that the Emperor Obama is living lavishly while his ill-conceived policies are starving the masses in his empire.-and the MSM is lap-dog and enabler, by choosing not to inform the people about the bad effects of Obama’s new laws. One example:http://cnsnews.com/news/article/bozell-abc-cbs-nbc-deliberately-censoring-bad-news-obamacare-I have a copy of “Beating Obamacare” by former Lt.Gov. of New York, constitutional scholar and PHD, Betsy McCaughey.Easy to get from amazon.com…paperback…I ordered 3 copies, 1 for me to study and 2 to give to other victims of this federal takeover of what was a free enterprise with all available choices for patients and doctors and hospitals.-America had the best medical system and foreigners came here in large numbers to get American medical treatment.Obama and Pelosi and Reid have doomed this system.-2,572 pages of new rules….new taxes (Jan.1, 2013 the 3.8% tax on selling a home or any asset, on top of capital gains taxes if the profit makes your income over $200,000 that year) and other taxes to give the Feds half a trillion new money!

I am reasonably sure that other presidents travelled as extensively. I also know that many costs are built-in, such as Secret Service and Air Force One. Regardless of whether Mr. Obama chooses to drink water or champagne, I think the bigger costs have always been with us. It just seems more outrageous because of our economic situation.

I agree with Mr. Troll that it would be helpful for Mr. Obama (or any politician, for that matter) to choose to forego perks to provide an example of the personal responsibility we taxpayers are expected to show. Mr. Obam has done a poor job of that, but I cannot believe that Mr. Romney would have saved us one penny of those costs, either.

Due to taxpayer apathy and a willingness to let others do their thinking for them, we have allowed our government to invent its own special class for itself. Until such time as we force them all to face the problems that us regular folks do, thie privileged attitude will prevail.

We have the power to change things in the voting booth. Still, I imagine more of us will be voting for a single issue or for a certain party vs. voting for what’s best for the country. Until that changes, we get what we deserve.
