A newspaper was that thing your grandparents used to line the bird cage with.

As I’m getting older I am witnessing the gradual extermination of many things I held dear; Newspapers, Book Stores, Record Shops and even things like telephone booths and mailboxes. Other than at the Post Office, I can’t find a mailbox anywhere near my house; my newspaper is 1/2 the size it was 10 years ago; and after dinner out or a movie it was always fun to stop by a book store or record store and browse, but no more.I realize that time and progress should always move forward, but I do miss some of these things for they were happy parts of my younger days.Thirty years from now today’s young people will be missing their smart phones and tablets as they, too, will have been surpassed.

From digits to digital. It’s interesting that the cartoonist is bemoaning the decline of newspapers when the cartoonist is presented on the internet. I use the internet, but there is something magical about pen and paper.
