“If they were truly wise why did they put nukes on Cuba?” Because the US put nukes close to their borders? Just a thought…

“It wouldn’t be the first time the under funded CIA was wrong.”

Do you think that Mr. Tenet would not have told Dubya that Saddam’s control of WMDs was a “slam dunk” if only the CIA had more funding? And then how would we be able to afford his Presidential Medal of Failure….uh, Freedom?

That is good HOWGOZIT do not actually debate, just insult instead!! In my 70+ years, I have read at least one book every month since I was ten years old, on just about every subject you can think of, and quite a few you might not even be able to think of, let alone read. I obtained both an AA degree in the area pf physics, and an AS degree in Numerical Control Programming (all with absolutely no help from anybody else, let alone the government, is that not a conservative mantra?), while at the same time raising a wonderful family. And at the same time serving in the California National Guard, eventually obtaining the rank of Spec 5 (the equivalent of first level sergeant) and an honorable discharge after some 8 years of service. At the same time I worked on the rocket engines that helped Americans walk on the moon, to say nothing of working on the engines that powered the ICBM’s that helped to make Mutually Assured Destruction a viable policy that kept the USSR and the USA from destroying humanity (including yourself) from off the face of the Earth forever. I also worked directly on the finest piece of rotating machinery mankind has ever made in the Space Shuttle Main Engines that powered the Space Shuttle Orbiters (among a great many other such aerospace items). I worked continually from 1962 up until retirement in the year 2000. Tell me, oh great one, just what have you managed to do to enable you to just be insulting on these discussion boards to someone like myself??

In Seoul, as well as in the North, folks are just saying, “sameo sameo”, not big deal. It takes “conservative thinkers” in THiS country to beat war drums any time there may be cuts on the horizon for “defense” spending.

WE are the most powerful military nation on the planet, by a factor of 12, yet a small group called Al Qaeda can send us into a panic, we can’t get in and out of Afghanistan in ten years, let alone ten weeks, and Iraq was 22 years! (’91 through present), then we “whipped” Panama!, Grenada! We got our butts whipped under REAGAN in Lebanon, with ONE truck bomb!

I AM for a strong actual DEFENSE! I support both our military and our troops and veterans. I’ve “been there, done that”, which is why all the chickenhawks are so disturbing. Then of course there are the REMF “veterans” who step up on the right side of the plate to take wild swings of fancy.

The real defense this nation needs is a 30% (at least) cut in wasteful defense, mostly contracting. A Contractor, on any job, costs 2.9 TIMES as much as a DOD or military full time employee! Our weapons are so sophisticated, only 5% of them work over 20% of the time. (When Clinton DID try to get bin Laden in Afghanistan after the attacks in Africa, the missiles that were so “smart”, landed in – THE WRONG COUNTRY! When in the first Gulf War, cruise missiles were launched at Baghdad, several landed: IN SAUDI ARABIA!!

Now as far as “little Kim’s” missiles and threats, his missiles remain “primitive” compared to our “hight tech” ones that can’t hit the right country, so I wouldn’t worry much about Los Angeles, or Portland, or Austin (though it may indeed make the most sensible target?).

You initially insulted me! And the ironic thing is that you did not even understand the point of my original post. Which was not even to be insulting to former vice president Dick Chaney. I was stating that while I mostly disagreed with his positions, he can indeed be correct in some cases (as he is on this particular issue). A wise man can even learn from a fool on occasions.

I do not just tout myself . What I am pointing out is that you sometimes act like an insulting troll. Especially towards myself for some reason, but I guess I should not feel particularly singled out, as you are usually and generally insulting towards anyone that disagrees with your positions, please STOP that! You do seem to be an intelligent person, and such an attitude is not necessary to get your points across. Do attempt to be more like Respectful Troll (who certainly is not a troll at all). And if there are liberals here that do the same then they are also trolls. I love it when you then justify your own insulting attitude by pointing out that others that do not agree with you also have the same insulting attitude.

In mathematics (-1) + (-1) does not even make a zero, it is twice as much negative (-2). Or to put it more simply, two wrongs do not make a right. I do not need any kind of an apology for your being so mistakenly insulting, but what I would like is a more reasonable position from you in the future. Something that if you are as good a person as you state you are, you could easily do, regardless of what other more liberal people do. To my knowledge I have never been insulting towards you or anybody else on these comment boards, and if I have inadvertently done so, I am more than happy to apologize. It is NOT your positions that I object to, it is your attitude. You do not need to feel that you have to answer this post, just change your attitudes in the future, and I will be more than happy to heap praise upon your posts for doing so!!
