If it were really that easy. If the haters would just be transported to Klingon starships with the tribbles. Ah, what a wonderful country we could have.
@robert landersin order for charity to be ‘TRUE’ it must be anonymous. If the recipient must face the giver then the act elevates the giver above the recipient, and it is not true charity.
“So, Bennett, the majority of the voters in 30 states are ALL wicked and deseve to die.”Bennet is satirizing those who think they are implementing God’s will.I’ve started my own religion. The first commandment is, Be as nice as you can to others. The second is, Anyone who believes others are going to hell for their beliefs or lack thereof, is going to hell.
“I thought “smitten” was an expression meaning “in love”?”Smite means to strike, so “smitten” is synonymous with “love struck”.I think we can all agree that’s a good kind of smiting.
So, this cartoon is NOT about graffiti being worse than being gay? Good. I hope Banksy is doing well.^http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=banksy&qpvt=banksy&FORM=IGRE^A stress management teacher I had used to say Hate causes heart attacks and Depression causes strokes. The sign painter in the cartoon above may have been very angry, or very sad. I am curious…are there any here who are against gay marriage who do NOT have a religious reason for having that position? Is there a verse in the New Testament where Jesus speaks against homosexuals? I know he says a lot about the rich who do not take care of the poor. His words, written in red, are very critical of religious leaders who he considered hypocrites.I see in Matthew 3:17 where we are told Jesus was not sent to condemn the world, but to save it. So please pardon my confusion. As a believer, I feel a duty to be polite and respectful to all. As a human being, I’ve often failed to maintain that composure, but I do try. If I didn’t believe in God, or an afterlife, or in the example that Jesus said he came to set…I would only have the laws of man and that last episode of CSI to make me behave myself.^As I consider the godless heathens who comment on this forum and who generally speak with tolerance and patience, I wonder why they make the effort? Fear of GC moderators?Or maybe they were just raised to be polite and thoughtful. Maybe they feel a responsibility to be humane? I can’t explain it. And btw, when I say godless heathens, I’m being silly. I mean people who do not believe in the God of Abraham worshiped by Christians, Jews, and Muslims, but sadly, to some Christians, even Jews and Muslims are doomed to Hell. To some sects within the Christian faith, other Christians are going to Hell. I guarantee you that you will one day learn the truth, OR, you’re not going to care.^I do wonder about the “Christians” who post angry, judgmental, and downright mean comments while defending their beliefs in Jesus. Too many are quick to accuse gays and “pro choice” people, but slow to criticize the practices Jesus specifically spoke against in the bible. The “sin” of irresponsible wealth. Failure to care for the “least of these”. To avoid looking at the splinter in your brother’s eye while you have a beam in your own. I can go on, and on, and on.Jesus gave a definition of what love is and in this Easter season, it is the duty of believers to LIVE that definition.^I say this in total respect and with no desire to be harsh or judgmental. I believe that I am judged more strictly if I speak in God’s name. I do not want anyone to be judged for speaking hatefully in the name of a loving God.^Hate causes heart attacks, depression causes strokes.Love promotes life. Be joyful and find something to smile about.Respectfully,Lovingly,C.
I am an atheist that believes in what Jesus said and did. It is hard to live up to his standards. I agree, too many don’t practice what Jesus preached, yet invoke his name to suit their wishes.
I believe marriage is a civil contract and should be open to two consenting adults. Churches should hold holy unions, or sacred blessings on couples of their choosing. Extending a civil marriage right to gay and lesbian couples, or transgender people does not diminish male/female marriages. The word marriage is used in many areas that have nothing to do with a man & a woman procreating.
“So, Clay thinks people should die that don’t see things his way?”Is that how you interpret it? I interpret it as those who pass harsh judgements against others should be mindful how they would be judged.
@respectful trollyour post was beautiful. It represents in action what hatespeech is and is not.like pornography – I know it when I see it.with great respect – A godless heathen.actually in my experience in the world, I was taught in Hebrew school and secular school that MONO-theism was a vast improvement in humanity, as if it were a great discovery.in my experience in the world – and I have seen and interacted with angels and other supernatural “occurances”, I do believe that the world we can’t see is closer to the native American, and ancient greek multiple-specialized gods.after studying the bible, and listening to ‘god fearing’ Christians, I made my own decision that I wanted nothing to do with such a nasty evil vengenful god, and the nasty, evil vengeful followers of the so-called ‘loving god’.
“What is objectionable, what is dangerous, about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. The evil is not what they say about their cause, but what they say about their opponents.” Sen. Robert KennedyTake a look at the stuff coming out of the mouths of so called social conservatives. Clay is pointing to a certain irony in all this, but it’s over the head of many who post on this site. Too bad.
Polygamy would be problematic for a lot of Christians, surely – it’s obvious you want to keep it prohibited, but you sure can’t point to the Bible and claim it isn’t “traditional”! ;¬D
“Having worked in the pro-life movement for many years, multiple abortions is not “perspective” It is reality.” You assume your perspective is the only perspective. what business is it of yours. who the hell cares what you think.
“I remember standing in front of an abortion chamber one morning… You guys don’t care at all about the women who get killed and carry guilt for life.”Standing outside a clinic? What good does that do? From what I’ve seen, those who “stand” outside an abortion clinic usually just harass women who go inside. Even if abortions were illegal, it wouldn’t stop women from getting them. It would just make it more dangerous.Takr a more positive, Christian approach such as volunteering with a family planning organization, or work with your church to have a positive impact on the lives of the women who would be the most vulnerable to considering abortion. Help give women a reason to choose life instead of trying to force it upon them.
Ah, you were told that "she was drunk, and was drunk constantly because the guilt of her multiple abortions was killing her. " So obviously that was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and there was no possibility of a story other than that behind her behavior.
Here in the real world, lives tend to be more complicated than the simplistic moralizing tales. But it seems to me that you find the things you want to believe in, and then sternly resist finding out any more than that.
It also seems to me that you don’t care about the women whose lives are destroyed when abortion is made illegal or difficult to obtain.
