Good morning, everyone. I’ll be cleaning up today as my Azeri friend is coming up from Baltimore tomorrow. I still have letters to the Editor from the Daily News to read. Some of the letters are so informative.
Morning, Village.Well, we’re down to calking the baseboards now. Wow, is that a chore! But we’ve got the carpet layers coming on the 13th and we have to get it done by then. I took off work early yesterday to take care of this and will probably do the same today.
Good morning Vagabonds..We are having ourselves a bright sunny day today.I gather the midwest just got a load of poor mans fertilizer over night..My avitar, On April 18, 1942 this was one of 16 B-25 medium bombers that were launched from the deck of the USS Hornet to start the Doolittle Raid on Japan.With all of her plains below deck Hornet was covered by plains from the USS Enterprise.Recently members of the raid held thier final reunion, there are four members left...Have fun all..ttfn
Beautiful, windy weather here. High 70’s yesterday and supposed to be the same today. We had our “solar” screens installed yesterday, and this morning, the sunlight coming in the South side of the house is very subdued. Hopefully this will keep the temperatures in the house lower so we won’t have to run the AC as much.
APersonOfInterest:Glad to find someone who is familar with the old “turkeys” as we called them. The ones we flew were TBM-3e’s and later models with modifications for ASW warfare. I was a Plane Captain and flew in them from 1947 to 1955 until they were replaced with the Grumman AF in 1954 to 1956 when they were replaced with the Grumman S2F. I knew that the bomb bay had been modified to carry water. I didn’t think that there were any of them still flying. They were a good airplane.
Had a bit of a surprise this morning when I saw an old U. S. Navy Grumman TF that I flew (while in the U. S. Navy) on the morning news. It was being used to fight fires in California. I know they were all retired from the Navy several years ago. I guess they have been retrofitted for battling fires. Its nice to know that some of them are still in service somewhere. Those years as a Plane Captain in VRC-40 are fond memories for me.
