This cartoon is not about gay marriage. This cartoon is about political positions..Certainly social issues should be separate from government, as church should be separate from state.
The so-called “Tea Party” has gone after extremely conservative politicians recently because they had some minor disagreement with the FAR right the “TP” represents.I think Markstein needed to show more differentiation in species here — the really hard-core “Tea Partiers” are no further than homo habilis. And I am using quotation marks for a specific reason. My guy John Adams would have been appalled by those nitwits claiming continuity with the real Boston Tea Party.

The TEA party stance has no opinion on gay marrige. They concern themselves with spending issues. Social issues should be seperate from government.

Only 8% identify themselves as tea party.Another poll gives them a 30% approval rating. Why should they be telling me what to do.

The “TEA party” has changed, and might more appropriately be represented with today’s “membership” by the simple “TP” abbreviation.
