I was gonna say Joanne Woodward until I realized she isn’t dead. But then, neither is Morgan Freeman …

Shows how desperate some “news people” are to think a hooker in a small town warrants a national headline. In my home town there was a brothel a mile away from the police station – on the same road. These days, that would be considered lead story material.

Many actors advise new ones in the field to ignore the critics . . . seems the public could learn from that in respect to the tabloids.

“Unknown celebrity” is an oxymoron; there’s no such thing.

Truly GOOD people almost never seem to get their just reward and many times no celebrity either.

James Garner’s supposedly a nice guy. Lorne Green was, too. These types of celebrities are well-known. They’re just not as loud as the obnoxious kind. They also tend to live a lot longer.

I wouldn’t like to be famous but it might be nice to be known as being responsible for doing something worthwhile.

If it was Tomb of the Nearly Forgotten Actress, with the same epitaph, I’d say Irene Dunne would be the one. But “celebrity” can be anyone from a doofus on AFV to John Wayne Gacy.

Most of those suggested had multiple marriages. ghostkeeper had to stack his deck with Canadians (the last four). Pal (Lassie) had a son who took over the role, but I never heard of a marriage. .Eric Severeid had the best definition of celebrity: someone who is famous for being famous. That would exclude most of the listed because they actually entertained a fairly diverse audience.
