Octavius doesn’t seem to have the courage of Velda’s convictions.

Who’s leading this organization and for what reason?Faith for her is a tool to control him. On another subject, but one related to the issue: When Maude took Linda out to eat she asked Linda what she had been eating. This caused Linda to scarf down the bowl of beans. What do Topsiders eat and was it what made Linda so easily accept the mutant milk and eggs?

Velda’s comment “slaves to the topsiders”implies she doesn’t know just how topsiders use mutants. Having my brain harvested for a mutt would be worse than slavery to me.

I agree with Mr Sherman..lack of knowledge of ALL the facts behind this circus is a very foolish way to start a action. It leads, we hope, to full disgrace of both …no all the clowns involved no matter where they are and who they are. Give me hope Aaron. I know you don’t give hints of what is to come but it is grating on my willing to fighting for them and leave you teasing us. I have spoken!!Blessed Be

As other people have asked, what are the questions in the polls? So far all we’ve seen Allgood get are the compiled results, not the raw data. He might be very surprised at what he learns.

I think we see who controls whom. Velda is the power behind the power, with no real risk.

I wonder what they’re drinking. I’ve never heard of a bean-based alcohol liquor.

Allgood is not all bad. He’s not trying to use physical force against people, he’s not interested in having “bloody minded jerks” behind him. And he’s not necessarily wrong about the poll numbers, either. The problem may be that he has too much faith in the sincerity of the people in his organization. A lack of faith may be a better thing.Notice that he talks of prosecuting Holly and Linda. Perhaps he’s one of Endtown’s few lawyers. A zealot lawyer…

I really hope I’m not opening up a can of worms here because most of us come to this website (not just this strip) to escape reality, if only for a moment, but Velda reminds me of one of those political “strategists” who are always popping up on talk shows…someone who sells themself as a kingmaker to the highest bidder.

There is an entire subclass of these people in politics (e.g., Karl Rove on the right and Jim Carville on the left) who make their livings by yanking the chains of their candidate du jour. Unfortunately, they occupy a place of power in society that they have not earned. Velda is such that a weasel is a very appropriate animal for her to have to mutated into.

And so, from the shadows of our furry Joseph McCarthy, the close shadow of a Roy Cohn steps, appropriately weasel-fied.

Roy Cohn how appropriate! Now I’m thinking of the speech from Angels In America except with weasel inserted where it said man.Quite the little spin doctor Velda is, any better a chessmaster and she would have an organ sting accompany her every sentence.

Velda seems to be the manipulator here, maybe the instigator of the movement. To paraphrase A. Marx: Velda, what’s your deal? WHY are you willing to sacrifice people?

Polls…Coca-Cola test marketed New Coke and people said they liked it better than Old Coke…but “liked it better” paled in comparison to the notion that they weren’t just changing flavors, they were taking away an important part of their history and lives. Old Coke forever, New Coke never!

I take offense to this comic; the room has proper amounts of lighting! If you’re going to be in a room with a long table, filled with cigar smoke, and talking about controlling the world (or Endtown), the place of the conversation needs to be poorly lit! It’s part of the Omniscient Council of Vagueness Handbook!

wait…how does using the eggs and milk that mutants produce instead of discarding them lead to being topsider slaves? Logically the exact OPPOSITE would happen, since it would make Endtown another step closer to being self-sufficient, ending the needs to return to the surface for food.

We all know Topsiders don’t use mutants as slaves. They use parts so the mutant is no more. Velda is using this as a lever. Allgood fears slavery. It does appear Allgood is the front man. The Society like I said has good ideals. Stay Human don’t give into your animal self. You know, becoming the Tiger you turned into and eating everybody. Just mutants producing eggs and milk was something uncounted on in the Society ideals. How Allgood thinks those who can do this become slaves is far fetched. Now if it becomes illegal and can be taken over by underground types, like the ones Velda represents, then they will be slaves. Slaves to the blackmarket who would be able to control Endtown by controlling food and commodities.Velda is definitely the Femme Fatale here. Controlling a man with good intentions that have been twisted against him. He is caught in her web. Her dress is classic by the way, very seductive with that side slit. Congrats Aaron. You have created another dangerous lovely female. (Oh and well placed the voice panel!!)

He is a man of faith and influence. the 2 most common things that bring his type down are money (power, or love (illicit). For Him it’s money and power. He reminds me of the aging Billy Graham, who for his entire life called Mormonism a cult, then took it off last year so he could fully support Romney. I understand why he considered them a cult because of the differences.meaning no offense to Mormons, who are usually very fine people, but the differences in beliefs are great. Velda doesn’t even Know love, and she has no faith in anything but money and power.

It may be dangerous to assume too much about Velda because, unlike Flask, we don’t really know too much about her. Aaron’s given us the basic outline of Velda as a feminine Fatale who is pulling Allgood’s strings to get him to act in her favor but what else is there? Is anyone pulling her strings? What are her weaknesses? As strong as she may seem at the moment I don’t doubt that Velda has problems and weaknesses. Aaron is too talented a storyteller to present anything less. I’m looking forward to see how she developes.
