Like I said before,I could not talk to her. She is not interested in the topic of the conversation, just her superiority of her grammar.

Why is today’s strip in black and white (okay, shades of grey)?

You know what? I’m an editor. Paying attention to grammar is my job, and I appreciate a well-turned sentence.

This sort of grammar policing, on the other hand, is INCREDIBLY ANNOYING.

It’s like a cook who can’t eat a single meal without nit-picking it to death, a movie critic who has to dissect every scene out loud, a nutritionist who scolds everyone who eats even a single cookie or candy bar. It’s like being the parent who, when their child brings them a homemade Valentine, immediately launches into a critique of why the glitter is the wrong color and how the crayon could have been applied more neatly.

There is a time and a place for everything, and being An Expert Nitpicker in social situations is not okay. It just isn’t. It’s rude, because what it says is that you consider yourself superior to other people and that correcting them and tearing them down is more important to you than having a normal relationship with them.

I will be very glad when this particular arc is over.

She seems to forget that if she is the minority in how words are being used she is also the part who is wrong. Considering the language is ever evolving.

Considering how hard Blacks had to fight – and die – to GET an education, and how poorly most people speak today, I’m with her. My mother did the same to me; drove me nuts, but being well-spoken made me seem a lot smarter than I really am.

It looks like she’s only interested in talking about grammar. But it’s possible she just doesn’t want to hear about politics, which is why she’s forcing a change of subject.

I’m pretty sure the dictionary has accepted “lol” or is that only websters?

I can’t have a conversation with this woman…she doesn’t care about the topic and cares about ONLY grammar. Now, I’m currently writing my own novel and I think that grammar’s the most important part of great story structure but this is taking it too far

(She says, indulging in a bit of lecturing herself. Feel free to think of me as an ass. ;) )

Dani Rice: Or reality either. Politics is rarely fun, but it is the only way we can affect reality. Otherwise, we are merely slaves to those who exercise their duty in that field.

I never said that I find the correct usage of grammar boring. I try to use good grammar. But if others around me aren’t, I don’t constantly correct them. I agree with RanaRavens. It is very annoying!!!
