You mean the 4th WARMEST winter on record? Doesn’t look like the global warming scientists are lying. Wonder who is?http://www.livescience.com/18896-fourth-warmest-winter-2012.html
“Don’t let facts get in the way of the real world.”
That’s true. While your at it, get the Chinese and the Indians to accept the consequences of their actions since they are polluting at massive levels. Farmers outside Shanghai dumped 13,000 dead pigs in a river that is a water source. The smog has become so bad it is spreading to Korea and Japan. China and India’s comments: “our economic development must come first before we can concentrate on environmental issues.” So said China’s last president Hu JinTao.
“waaaahhh bad liberals wont let me rape the planet anymore.”
First off, I didn’t suggest anyone here should ignore pollution control because of what the Chinese are doing. I live in California, a state where we are considered frontrunners on pollution issues. My comments were directed to issues still facing us from the “third world countries.”
I’m sure it doesn’t matter to you, but I’m not a republican/conservative. I’m a Libertarian (and an accountant) and your tax comment bothered me, probably because there was so much about Romney and his wealth thrown around during the last election. Anyway, my mistake for being sarcastic in replying.
“We need to stop waiting for the “market” to decide when our lives are in danger.”
I agree and I don’t think waiting for the market is an issue. China is installing every kind of functional power generation they can, particularly in their more remote regions. i disagree with you about them looking to us for “what to do.” Their solar technology is now more advanced than ours and they have well functioning wind farms in their western regions. After all, they stole the technology from us…
I am a big fan of the Boone Pickens type plans that use a combination of current locally produced energy along with wind farms in the midwest. To me this is a transition period where we can keep energy affordable while we build out the infrastructure (the grid) to include the wind (and solar in the right areas).
David, IMO this is your most pertinent remark of the day; “Don’t let facts get in the way of the real world. Obviously, if you don’t believe the bullet is heading towards your head it can’t hurt you.”

Rockngolfer: Just before the disintegration of the USSR, I had designed a role-playing game based on the TTAPS study baseline (anything larger would not have enough survivors to play with). Except for minor details like no infrastructure remaining, a lot of dead bodies still not accounted for, etc., the “nuclear winter” would be over in five years or so. Granted, there would be a lot fewer putting more carbon into the atmosphere, but the nukes would have made up for that and then some..The game was designed to counter the idiots advocating bombing the USSR “to get it over with”, but it was quite accurate. I had an ex-Air Force nuclear weapons officer advising on the military aspects and Physicians for Social Responsibility on the epidemics and such. While the game was ready to market, the collapse of the USSR and the improvement of detection equipment making any such launch obvious as to source made it commercially unfeasible. As much as I liked Nuclear Winter as both recreation and education, I gladly accepted the swap.
Wow, are you WORKING at being that dumb? I AM impressed at the depths to which you are apparently willing to go to hide from reality. The link specified “the United States.” Where are you? Antarctica? Oh, wait — it’s warming there, too.
One trick pony: a reference to vaudeville acts that had one premise, but only and always did that one act. Also,Trick Pony, a now defunct country music act that was hot in the early 2000s. Heidi Newfield had GREAT pipes!
So in Mar ‘12 it was 70 degrees and today it’s in the teens. Mar ’12 set two records warmest daily 87 and warmest monthly 50. But once Apr came the warmest daily was in 1899, May was 1895, so one warm month is not the warmest.

That’s what GOP has done to every improvement in America. They have thawed out a lot of the old hatreds and biases, though.

You are living in one hemisphere. Ask the people living in the Southern hemisphere how cold it is there.

If they just drop a few nukes it would help global warming by bringing about a Carl Sagan nuclear winter.

Read my reply to NightGuard.(up 5 comments) I agree with you, I probably should have been clearer in my original posting.
