Maybe if he put his wife in the back seat, as well, he’d be able to balance the heavy load.

One time in Germany I saw a VW bug with four passengers. The smallest one weighed 250 pounds.I saw it as he tried his best to get out of the way of my 5 ton 543A2 wrecker when he pulled out in front of me. I was doing 50. He ended up doing 50 attached to my front bumper. We got stopped and they squeezed out all fussing a cussing in German. I just sat there and laughed. It was like a clown car.

I deliver newspapers for a living. []One night, I asked my mom to help me with the route since I’d just been given a new territory that was out in the country; given that I was delivering at night, I needed another set of eyes to help me find everything.[]I normally set it up so that the newspapers to be thrown were in the right rear seat so that I could just reach back and grab one. []Thing is, the combination of “heavy papers that night” and “a passenger in the front seat” caused my car to list slightly to the right, something that became apparent in fairly short order. []As part of it, I had to make a detour from my normal route. The railroad crossing I was using at the time had a steep grade to it, such that semi drivers are warned not to use it, and I didn’t trust the car’s ability to make it either. Thus, I went about a mile down the road to a crossing that had a far smoother grade.[]When I explained the situation to my mom, her first response was something to the effect of. “Well, if you wouldn’t eat so much, then…”. Suffice to say that she wasn’t all that thrilled when I explained just which way the car was listing.
