Considering we never should have gone into the country, or picked Condi’s buddy Karzai to run it, why didn’t we just bomb the camps, nail bin Laden and leave it at that??
Kato: you may be aware that Erik Blair, better known as George Orwell, was the son of the British civil servant whose job was to encourage the production of opium in Afghanistan, to send it to China, so the Brits could conquer THAT country.
“But if we leave now all those Americans shall have died in vain.”
I “get” your thinly veiled sarcasm. The middle east is a snake pit that is content to murder each other in their ridiculous quest for theological dominance. The other shot up helmet is the Russian and this cartoon just signifies the repeated attempt (and failure) by world powers to “bring peace/dominate” this area. IMO it’s time to give it up, pull all our people out of the middle east and let them resume their theocratic blood bath.
Bring our soldiers home and sponsor them to study Math, Science, Engineering and Electronics. They have proven they are disciplined and focused, now give them the capability to really change the world with their efforts.
Theo, villages don’t shoot or plan IEDs. People do. What percentage of Afghanis do you think shoots at us or plants IEDs? 1%? 3%? 10%?*Using your logic, all the children in a village or a square mile should be killed because one adult shot at our troops or one IED went off.*This isn’t a left-right political issue. I don’t think you have much “right” support on this, either.
‘Nuke from afar. Should have been done in Afghanistan and Iraq. It should be done right now in N Korea. Will save a lot of American lives.’-Why Iraq? Bonus (related) question: Why did we invade Iraq?

But we need to stay (or our troops do; we have other things to do) until the mission is accomplished. And that mission is….um…to, um….
