It seems ironic that this sentiment about the poor revering Chavez and how wonderful he was for Venezuela when his social programs were full of corruption, his oil production dropped because he staffed it with cronies and his economic programs were failing in the face of rampant inflation. Of course now the Russians, Iranians and the Chinese are lurking on the sidelines waiting for the outcome of the next election.

Apparently the district governor from the last election is going to run again and that could prove to be interesting, especially if they put in U.N. election monitors. At the last election Chavez’s opponents fared well against him, and considering the evidence of widespread election fraud may indicate a turn for the country this time around.

The poverty rate in Venezuela went from 50% down to about 25% under Chavez. While he was no pure Jeffersonian democrat, there is a reason that he was, and is, vastly popular. To understand that, you need to look at what V. was like before Chavez, with all of the oil money going to the top 1%, and nada for most of the people, who lived in abject poverty in shanty towns. Socialist revolutions would not happen if capitalists didn’t insist on making them necessary.

An egotistical politician. Such a rarity.

Having lived in Venezuela I have a good idea about the people there. They want what we want, a decent job to feed, clothe, and care for their families. they want Venezuela for the Venezueleans, not all the foreign entities there, of which the United States is only one of many, but the biggest one. But like us they have been sold out to the highest bidder. Theirs started long ago, mostly to the Rockefeller family, but we are catching rapidly. Our is not just the Rockefeller family but the Walton family, the Gates family and all the other assorted families who sells us for thier gain.

I’ve known young people in the US who have died of cancer. By the time he got to Cuba, he had a tumor the size of a baseball and the cancer had mestasadized to his spinal cord.At this point, Sloan-Kettering wouldn’t of been of any use.
