I assume the other patient was a child.

Rose’s doctor isn’t very good. She keeps calling Rose, “Reese,” and doesn’t seem to ever remember about her patient – even with the chart in front of her (maybe it’s just Rose?)

Why can’t I help but think this is a dream Jimbo is having with his wife in patient garbs and a hot doc walking through the door?

Sadly, many doctor’s offices these days have become the equivalent of a factory production line. The practice needs to see an increased volume of patients in order to pay off the doctor’s med school loans and skyrocketing malpractice insurance costs (plus the cap on reimbursement doesn’t cover the actual costs of treatment). All of which leads to docs who don’t have time to read files. Forgetting a name is say, but think about the patients in surgery whose docs remove the wrong organ,or leave sponges in….

Maybe argy bargy 2s on to something. I think this is a case of a lake. There’s a deep part to jump right into, to see what interesting things are down there, and a not so deep part, just to skim your toes, and also not miss the beauty of what’s there on top. both things are important, both things are beautiful. This strip today is like that. Rose getting treated like a number and not a name, her witty but also sincere reaction to it, and the reflection of todays medical practices and those who do the practicing….

That doctor has the tact of a steamroller. She should have said, “Oh, I thought you were my OTHER favorite patient!”

What she should have said was “I’ll just be a moment; I have another patient to see first.”

I’ve grown to think that a favorite patient is one who never questions the doctor’s judgement..

Never be called the favorite patient. That is an euphuism for “b….” They call you that because they can’t stand you and are trying to soften you up so you leave quickly.
