Horse tastes not that bad. There are not fattened like pigs, chicken or turkey. Normally their meat is from higher quality, because they are not full of stereoids (except if they were racing horses ;) ). There are some countries where horse is highly valued.
have eaten a lot of things, camel meat, dog meat, grubs, snake (even a raw one once) and more than likely horse meat…not to mention armadillo It was all delicious!!!
Considering some of the things that go into processed food, Horse would be an improvement. I don’t eat horse (knowingly), but in the grand scheme what does it matter?
People are angry not just because it was horse meat but because it was not what the label said. If it were pig labeled as cow or cow labeled as chicken, people would still be appalled, even if they normally eat those animals.
Americans eat enormous amounts of meat and as such ingest way too much protein. The “average” person needs 56 grams of protein per day to maintain their nutritional requirements.
Here are some sample gram values of basic protein foods: Chicken/beef – 3 oz 25 grams, Yogurt 7 grams, Milk 1 cup 8 grams, Tofu 4 oz 9 grams, egg-1 6 grams, Tuna 4 oz 28 grams*http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/protein
Mr. Toles is always brilliant and I love the empathy and irony expressed here. Felt embarrassed for the responders who just don’t get it while imagining they are oh-so-clever.diana

I agree. I’d rather murder and eat vegans.

The horse might get more sympathy if he talks to a dog or cat.

Not kosher, hoof not split! Camel is OK, though.

The taste in meat comes mostly from the vegetable seasoning put on or into the meat.

Rin Tin Tin on a stick, tasty, tasty, but would freak Americans more. But of course, the real issue was indeed false labeling, not the actual content.
