Checked the annual budget numbers, and even with a full $85 billion in cuts, this year’s spending will still be more than 2011 spending. They need to cut more and keep cutting.

If the Federal Government is still spending more than the previous year that means there are no cuts.

Somebody always wins, somebody always loses. And it’s usually the same somebodies..Said the Sharpie to the Rube: “Heads, I win. Tails, you lose.”

I vote we immediately deep-six the F-35, mothball the F-22, and order up more f-16s/18s. Then go in, fire all the acquisition personnel/5-stars, etc. who are working on these, and start over. Same with those who OK’d the Littoral combat ship, and the Coast Guard Deepwater boats. Then fire the legislators who keep funding these misbegotten projects. Then dismantle Homeland Security, put the Coast Guard under the Pentagon, eliminate the ATF and give that responsibility to the FBI. Then raise the income limit for contributions to social programs, start putting tariffs on Chinese, Korean, Japanese products equal to what they put on ours. Tell Netanyahu that he’s not getting any more aid until he starts talking substantively with the Palestinians, then tell THEM the same thing. Then get ALL THE WAY OUT of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

If we cut our defense down to the size of China’s we could pay off all debt in one year.

America has an aggregate Federal Government debt of nearly $17 Trillion and old Pat is worried about a budget cut of $85 Billion or about 1/200th of the amount.

That old geezer will not be around when the bill comes due but my children and I will.

The deficit has been going down per year.Rich people need to pay their fair share of taxes.

instead of cutting job because they will go on unemployment which does not help they shoud cut pay and benefits starting with thiers

@chillbilly, the aggregate debt is nearly 17 Trillion. If the DoD budget was totally eliminated in Fiscal 2013 it would only reduce the size of the annual deficit.

My guess is you don’t know the difference between the deifict and the debt. Given the stupidity of your post that does not surprise me.

Amazing how ‘end of the world’ it is to cut a portion of the projected increases in spending.

I’m sure we all want a government that we can feel proud of, to know it can be trusted to be fair, just, and morally correct even where no citizen goes hungry, there is no homelessness and nobody has missing teeth or is toothless?

when I read this I felt the deep sadness and helplessness of the real situation. Don’t we all long to see that kind of worlld that guy is talking to his dog about?
