With the F-35 having more problems, and not having the range of our current fleet, and the F-22 not being used, tell me again why Defense spending is sacrosanct?
The F-35 is necessary because all politicians know that government DOES create jobs in defense, even though many conservatives deny that government can create jobs anywhere else. This is known as “weaponized Keynesianism,” and is a key belief of congressional Republicans and many Democrats.
We’re only against spending on things that benefit hippies. As soon as ‘that one’ leaves the pentagon, we’ll put our sign back down and go back to droning on.
The Preamble to our Constitution does NOT say “Provide for National Defense”. It specifically says “…provide for the common defense,promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…”
The Constitution specifically calls for limiting funding for the “army” to two years, to avoid a military industrial complex, they recognized the problem over 200 years ago!! It was also to avoid intervening in “foreign wars” that were not in the interest of the nation, like well Afghanistan (other than going after Al Qaeda camps specifically, and ONLY) and Iraq.
The F-22 and the F-35 are unmitigated wasteful programs, but gee, the F-35 is a Lockheed contract, please check the history of the Cheney family regarding this poverty stricken company. (They also got the contract to do "intelligence’ during that little Iraq “dustup”.)
Instead of continually asking for facts, why not do your OWN research? You can damn well Google anything without trying to find a link. Like red state/ blue state federal taxes vs. returns. You can find a lot of non-ideological info with a little common sense…oh, wait, never mind.

That’s the only good thing about this sequester. The voting breaks for the rich expire and the pentagon is Supposed to be cut too.
