    Wouldn’t you rather use a clean toilet than a dirty one? Cat’s are just like us in that respect.

    I think it may have been Erma Bombeck who once said something to the effect that – Doing housework while you have children at home is like digging a hole in the sand with your bare hands. For every pile you scoop out, two more slide back in. ( I suppose Cat owners can take that a bit more litterally.)

    I am attempting to train my kitten to use the toilet. She is taking to the toilet well, but she is no good at flushing yet.

    You know it’s time for maintenance when they perch themselves on the edge of the litter box.

    Both my cats, sisters, prefer to go outside, even in the winter. I love it…I very seldom have to clean the box……Good kitties!

    And of course, they put the litter box in the laundry room, so the clothes can absorb that “delightful” scent. (As bad as one friend who used to put the litter box IN THE DANG KITCHEN BY THE REFRIGERATOR!!!) Ecch!!!

    That is exactly what my cat, Velvet, does! I try to bring in her clean box with my back turned so she doesn’t notice, but it doesn’t work! She will also sit and watch me clean the box, then jump right in and dirty it. Cats are weird.

    Cats live longer, healthier lives if they are kept indoors. A box is no fun, but it’s worth it for your cat! Those outdoor cats go somewhere, probably in a neighbor’s yard!

    That’s just the way of a cat…they have to “christen” the fresh litter box.

    I bet she finds Arlo waiting outside the with the sports pages, when she cleans the bathroom.

    @JusSayinI had one that taught herself to use the toilet when she trapped herself in the bathroom once. She would flush 3 or 4 times either to make sure ‘it’ was gone or to watch the water swirl. Not sure which because she would come flush if she heard anyone else flush.

    @JusSayin

    I tried that with 4 cats and 1 toilet. I gave up when the power went out and we had no water to clean the seat with (after they spread litter from the “training” pan all over it).

    Also amazing how they manage to time it for exactly when you clean the pan.

    @lightenup :)
