Oil and coal are, so to speak, sold on the black market.
Someday, fossil fuel may be outdated, but that time will be many decades from now. The technology simply is not economical for general use. If I am still alive when it becomes economical, I will be one of the first to adopt it.
If we are to save humanity – the planet will save itself – we had better hope so.
