Remember 40% rejected that idea by voting for Bush. Unfortunately many were duped by Barry and friends (like any others), but they don’t blindly vote Dim like other “groups”.
Republicans can’t try to make it harder for minorities to vote by restricting voting hours and adding voter ID laws and then turn around and try to court them as voters. They need to pick a strategy.
As a Democrat I’m concerned about our increasing inability to attract white voters. If current trends continue, soon we’ll be doing as badly with white voters as Republicans do with minorities. It’s not healthy for the country if our parties divide along racial and ethnic lines. But politicans don’t seem to worry much about what’s good for the country anymore.
Meaning one can be very popular by doing nothing, lying and taking vacations at the public’s expense.Sadly that happens even happens at the local levels!
Hmmm…. and yet the earth survived.Yes, and wiping out the dinosaurs cleared the way for more advanced critters to thrive. I think Lalo nailed this one.
“….the same values that Republicans embrace and liberals despise. These are traditional family, self reliance, hard work, and attention to one’s own business.”
I have long been considered a liberal, but I embrace those values as well (so much for generalizing). Although I agree with the words I hear from the mouths of Republicans, I see that their actions almost always contradict them. I don’t think I’m the only one who sees this.
Need examples? Balance “a culture of life” with the desire to build military might and the desire to eliminate restrictions on gun ownership.Balance “keep government out of your life” with laws and constitutional amendments concerning gay rights and abortions.Balance the attempt to brand the party as the party of Jesus with the idea that helping their neighbors is just asking them to become dependent.
Time limits me from providing more.
If we could find Republicans who actually acted the way they talked, the country might be much better off.
majority rules like we told blacks for years and if you lose quit whinning and find out what you did wrong and try to get a majority next time this is the way we always did it before boomers have always felt everything should go your way ww2 gen didnt whine like people do 2 day
“Business! Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
One obvious problem is liberals Want to mind their own business. it’s the GOP that wants to change people or doesn’t mind their own business. They want to be in the Gay bedrooms saying “naughty! you don’t get to do that”
they want to be inside women saying “we just want to do an ultrasound and you have to pay for it” and “I don’t care if you already have 6 kids you can’t afford, you have to have another child, but remember we don’t want you asking help with feeding and caring for it” and they’re the ones saying “we are going to make you evangelical Christians, one way or anotherMost liberals are as much into hard work and self reliance as anyone else!” And most have traditional families. It’s the POP who says we don’t. We just have compassion for those who are worse off, many children, the old, the mentally ill, the disabled, the people who are living paycheck to paycheck, that could become in dire poverty with one misfortune.
I would argue that Republicans want to keep illegals as an underclass in order to maintain a supply of cheap labor. If they really didn’t want illegals here, they would demand prosecution of those who hire them — except, by and large it is Republicans who hire them.-A couple years ago, legislation was proposed in California to require farmers, who are overwhelmingly Republican, to verify citizenship of farm workers. California farmers immediately and vehemently, to put it mildly, opposed the legislation and it diasppeared.- I won’t claim that Democrats are not complicit. They also take no meaningful steps to deter illegals.-This is a related, but separate issue from amnesty, whatever form it takes.
