You can do both now. I’ve seen it on TV.

It does help to at least have a boyfriend. It takes a fair amount of cash to have babies without a man

You can tell this cartoon was penned decades ago! I’m 70, and used to think this way. Now, no one I know says anything like this. And we all know single parents, many of whom have never been married, and are doing great.

Truth is, MOST single never-married women are NOT mothers yet. But, I do know a few single parents (male and female) and some are struggling with finances, time management, stress, etc. that would otherwise be shared in a two-parent relationship. In fact, some have the child first then find that they need help so this prompts the single parent to marry practically the first person that comes along. Too many people think primarily about themselves throughout life. They want to have a family “on their own” but this is not usually the best environment for the child.

No need to be married to be a mother these days. The government has replaced fathers.

If being screwed by the government made babies, every one of us would have ’em.

Kids are a lot of responsibility and effort. They are also worth every bit of both.

What is wrong with Elly’s joke? Believe it or not, there are societies where being a unwed parent is not a badge of honor. Despite the running gag about Connie, she did get remarried, which is realistic as the majority of single mothers who get married have said they feel like a big weight has been taken off their shoulders now that there is someone to share the responsibilities.
