Well, we have a whole weekend to anticipate what he is thinking about. Lets hope it is something intelligent. I still think that the issue of the fish eating what ever goes into the water…not beans I think… in something that comes from the other citizens of EndTown . Where does garbage go?Commenters want to know. Me first. Thus all fish or other characters of the water need to go to jail too. Yup!!Blessed Be

I’m going to guess she has helped a lot of people to adjust to their new selves. This is based on her conversation with her step-father when Wally was recovering in the hospital.

Thinking more on how knowing who’s on the council can influence them… The influencer can get to them after their term, not before. Bad people can find them afterward and retaliate for any upsetting decisions. How someone voted doesn’t matter; if the decision gets on the bad guys’ bad side, all of them can suffer for it. Council members may try to avoid getting on the bad side.

Remember to vote as much as possible over the weekend. See Level_Head’s or SurfStuff55’s links. I will have real comments over the weekend about the allegedly random institutionalized autocratic anarchy.

The Council(?) exhibit little respect for the mayor. I treat clown mouths at burger joints with more respect. I have celiac so I cannot eat gluten in bread like products.

Nice to see the mayor at least try to stand up to someone.Do the council members know how each one votes? Are they going to punish the dissenter, somehow? Guess time will tell..

Only one voice… No one is visible… At best it seems we have an oligarchy here. Could there have been a coup de council? This tone is much rougher than that expressed by Allgood. I sense there is a need for an Underground underground. Wally W.: Rebel-in-Chief. When in the course of mutant events… ;-)

I’ve always been one to chastise folks for not letting go of previous storylines, so I should be the last one to mention this, but can’t you just picture AM when you read this dialogue? Feet on the desk, puffing on a cigar, dripping of snarkiness…. Nah, I need to let it go. ;-)

Wally may be as thick as a brick, but I think ticking him off may bring out a side of him the High Council doesn’t know he has. Bears can seem dumb, but lovable, but get them mad…and there’s an unpleasant surprise in store.

I kinda expect the mayor to get arrested if he opens his mouth again. “Sorry, the mayor’s gone on a little fishing trip. Should be back in 20 or 30 years. Call back then.”

Yeah, you’re right Silversummer and the mayor’s face in panel 3 looks like he may be getting a little grumpy. Beware the mad bear.

So the High Council has voted, by a majority, that they’re awesome. They must have been celebrities in their former pree-mutation lives…

There’s no real reason to pretend that the council is still functioning normally, if it’s been completely co-opted by Allgood. Which means that his party hasn’t quite embedded itself yet. Ie – no coup. Yet. I’m thinking that the plan is to use the “pervert mutants” cover story as a way to rile up the common populace. The show trial is just to get people to take sides. Then, Allgood steps forward as the only legitimate leader to resolve the crisis and asks for a vote to be installed as Endtown’s new leader. Then, with the populace behind him, he performs a purge of “undesirables” and focuses on a way to turn human again.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh My!Lions and tigers and bears. The question is was this corruption of the Council by random choice or by rigging the choice process? They almost sound like kids when talking.“We’re AWESOME” That is so juvenile. Not someone of age and experience.I got it now Angry teenagers tired of living in Endtown with all its rules and mutants have now taken over and want to run amuck over the entire system. I can see them all high fiving, fist bumping, bomb blasting, each other after that vote.“DUDE!!!!!”Interesting panels today.

Wow Council members. Great reasoning, maturity and respect. The ‘majority vote’ feels a little too condescending and pompous for townsfolk who switch every month or so at random… I definitely have got a feeling that someone (or someones) with a god complex managed to weasel his or her way onto the council for a longer term.

The vote reminds me of a joke: “This minister was in the hospital, and received a get-well card from his congregation that read, ‘The congregation wishes you a speedy recovery by a vote of one hundred twenty-eight to sixteen.’”

A further thought on the presence or absence of the USA in the alternate universe Endtown occupies—-since we’ve all moved ahead a day, I thought I’d bring it up here.#An alternate scenario, that accounts for Petey knowing that Chevrolet jingle. Petey, too, the original pre-transport-conversion pre-brain-in-a-box Petey, could have been another traveler through the universes, like Aaron Marx, say, but without Aaron Marx’s superpowers. He could have been caught up in the Topsider net without their being aware of where and when he came from—-which could nicely account for Petey knowing of a USA that didn’t ever exist in their alternate reality.#Too complex? Well, you should see some of the “Star Trek” rationalizations…

I seem to recall a time when the people of Endtown were on the verge of going ballistic because they were fed up with searchers bringing home nothing but cans of beans. Now someone has found a way to provide something other than beans, and WHAT HAPPENS!?(SIGH!) What a world… What a world.

Does this arc mean the mini comic is out of canon? In the mini-comic, Walt trades fishing fun for exemption from council duty. That implies that he has some say in council membership. That does not seem to be the case now.

To those curious about the avatar. I owe this one to Call of Duty 2. Awesome game back in the day. Playing those were recommended by the VA doc I visited. PTSD began to set it some years ago. This was his solution. He said I needed to feed that inside me or it would consume me.He explained it this way.The military trained me to be a killer and it stuck.Sent me to combat to do all that nasty stuff without feelings or remorse. A job. When they were done I was not “reprogrammed” so those skills and deeds stayed under the surface unused, festering. This game playing allowed me to get back in the s..t like the old days. I could feed that “beast” and not let it feed on the “others”.I win some and loose some but I no longer felt the urge to hurt others.Does not work for all but it helped me. Caster_1971 Playstation Network. Usually the weekends.COD Black Ops II right now. Ready to level up to 55 5 star general.

Getting back to the story:“What do we care? We ARE Endtown!”No, they’re not. That’s where the problem lies.We might look best to the Editor of the paper, Mr. Foxworthy. If we refer to volume 2, while we don’t see him, he is a very strong person with a high sense of values. Walt would do good to see him next.

(this is related to this strip as well as life and general) This is why they need more people on the council, as well as screening them beforehand for things such as, oh I don’t know….. Being affiliated with certain (extreme) groups. For instance, they can’t have anyone from the Panda person’s organization, nor can they have anyone from Jack rabbit’s group. Technically they can’t serve as the arm of justice if they aren’t as objective and neutral as possible.

If there’s a protest against what is happening, it would be best to let the rats know it’s not against them, but the High Council. That could cause the rats to be neutral and possibly encourage some to support the dissenters. That would depend on what their codebook says. Whether protecting the citizens or the High Council has the higher priority. If Flask wrote it, the High Council better worry because she knew which group would be more dangerous.
