LaPierre: Crazy people shouldn’t be allowed to own guns… unless they buy them at gun shows…

you’re more than a little off on that statment. Gun shows do not have any background checks or liability to the sellers…

Iggy Pop is the real king of Motor City rock and roll. Nugent’s music sucks. And he’s a draft dodger.

Thank you Mr. Anderson. I’ve been saying this since Mr. LaPierre called for a lunatic registry. Who gets to decide which lunatics go on the list?

Anyone here want Mr. Nugent for a next-door neighbor? Mr. Ima, perhaps?

I’ve stated it before, and I’ll state it again: Ima is what results when the fetus is starved for oxygen.

“I’m still waiting for any liberal to explain why Chicago has the Highest Gun Violence Rate of any City in the Nation (Chicago’s Mayor confirmed this fact) albeit they have the Strictest Gun Control Laws of any City in the Nation?”

No need to wait. Many people have explained this one to you, more than once, myself included.

It’s one thing to take a principaled stand. It’s another thing to continue to spout the same misconceptions/misrepresentations when you are shown the correct answer.

Funny; I’m a liberal and I agree with most of what you say, although I think the details could be tweaked. Now, if these ideas are common-sense, which they are, and if liberals are lacking in common sense, does it follow that conservatives would be willing to accept these common-sense approaches?

But they don’t. Please explain. Perhaps, as in almost all things political, the middle is better than either extreme?

Dallas has a gun violence rate that is comparable to Chicago. Why? I thought loose gun laws and more people with open and conceal carry permits made everyone safer? Your argument is meaningless because the opposite is not the answer either. Also, as far as number of murders, New York and LA are higher. And as far as gun violence rate (number of deaths per 100,000), that city is New Orleans. Chicago does not enter the top ten.

As a member of a Democratic Gun Owners caucus, I tire of “conservatives” constantly shouting “liberals” want to take away our guns, and the idiocy of saying Chicago leads in gun violence despite strict laws. Both positions are as false as believing Nugent isn’t nuts.

BTW: went to a gun show, with instant check, bought a .38 Ruger and walked out in less than five minutes, from dealer. Other shows I’ve been to have been “private parties”, and no checks were happening, also, “after market” parts for semi-auto weapons have long been popular to convert them.

It IS the insanity of such as Nugent that DOES enter into the “gun debate”, and shows that some folks most wanting loose controls, are the very psychotics who should not have access to firearms.

WRONG or LIE however you want to put that. Background checks are not done at gun shows if the seller is not a licensed dealer. So are you lying or just ignornat of the facts concerning your statement?

    “……..Background checks = Registration = Harassment* = Confiscation……….*”

So, I can sue the state for harassment because I registered my car? When does it get confiscated? And the whole point of employers doing background checks on me (I’m a contractor, so I go through at least 2 a year) is so I can be confiscated? After I get harassed? I don’t see how any of these logically connect. The point is, anything POTENTIALLY dangerous in this country is regulated – cars, prescription drugs, exotic pets – why are guns different? Registering them only means that when something happens, a weak link in the system can be traced and repaired. How many conservatives on this site have been saying the problem was with our mental health system? Why prevent something that could potentially spot the mentally ill BEFORE they buy a gun?

If you buy from a dealer at a Virginia Gun show you have to fill out the proper papers. If you buy from Jonny Come Lately and his private collection of guns you don’t have to do anything but give him money and walk away.Informatively,C.

How come it is only white males who are the mass murders and gun fanatics. It must be an inherent gene weakness of white masculinity.

Along the lines of “Its not whose vote counts it who counts the votes” will end up being a statement about who determines “crazy”. Is there a large group of conservative psychiatric folk that are ready to only recognize conservatives as sane?

Why is anyone trying to argue and/or reason with onguard? Y’all realize he’s little more than a troll trying (and succeeding) to be obnoxious, don’t ya? He will never be interested in fact or reason.

Yes, Ansonia,I am Mr. Downs and I addressed the name change in another cartoon last week.I’ve discovered the quality of information I’ve provided has allowed folks to find where I live and I don’t mind the folks who have educated me to this and am grateful to them. However, there are some folks I would not want to come to my front door unannounced, especially those who say folks with my views should be hung or shot.I did keep the same profile and avatar to reduce the confusion. As far as the name goes, I’ve been calling myself a Peace Troll for awhile now. I do believe there are times when a person has to resort to violence for defense, but even when fighting, one can be respectful so…I did offer folks a chance to suggest a name for me if for no other reason than the possible humor involved.Take care Ansonia.Respectfully,C.
