As a retired teacher, I can relate. However, I must keep saying to myself, “It is only a cartoon. It is only a cartoon.”

since the refs stand off to the side and watch these guys hammer each other, I’m (duh) thinking that the fighting is unofficially sanctioned as part of the sport.

They give hockey players “time outs” (the penalty box). Guess it isn’t any more effective for them than it is for the average three-year-old. Mom never threatened me with a time out. She threatened me with a knock out. I knew she could do it too. (And I didn’t grow up to be a serial killer.)

Reminds me of that old line (maybe Rodney Dangerfield?): I went to a fight last night and a hockey game broke out.
