Not exactly correct in one aspect. The camels are FERAL (They have domesticated ancestors that were released or escaped) , they are not native to Australia so can’t be described as WILD.

If Dr. Le Baaba rented ad space on his head as well, he could compete with that idiot from Austin, Tx, who was featured in last week’s BION.

sailing physics seem kinda weird at first blush. the sail actually pulls the hull through the water, the wind doesn’t push it.

Le Baaba is a Guru at best not a Doctor. Interesting, but a spouter of new age babble.

It’s the physics of the force of the wind transferred to the hull and keel. The fastest direction is almost perpendicular to the wind, which causes the hull and keel to essentially “slip” sideways through the water. Similar to what N7326 Foxtrot described with his watermelon seed analogy…

Wild in Australia legally defines Native animals, Feral defines Non-Native species. Most native species can’t be hunted , but open season on any feral animal like these camels. A few are captured for export, but most are shot on sight by hunters and park rangers.

Alexikakos: if the wind DOESN’T come exactly from behind; for an appropriate angle of the sail and an appropriate keel, and strength of the wind, the physics does add up. See: composition of vectors. Sailboats often can run (in certain directions) faster than the prevailing wind.

Back in the mid 1800s the US army tried using camels in the Arizona Territory. It didn’t work out. The camels were turned loose to fend for themselves, but they didn’t survive.
