It might just be useful if you and others would read the entire 2nd amendment to the US Constitution.

This amendment was NOT written so that people could either own firearms necessarily or form militias to protect themselves from the federal government.

It WAS written so that the federal government could depend upon an armed populace being able to form such militias (which are now called the National Guard) to protect the federal government FROM insurgencies (such as the Confederacy during the Civil War) both without (by foreign invasion) and within the US itself.

Hopefully, the intelligent citizens of this great country do not feel that they ever will need to protect themselves from the very government that they themselves have elected!!

That is the true essence of a democratic republic, even if it also has some degree of socialism as a part of its makeup!!

If you and others here do not understand that , then your knowledge of American History is extremely shallow and limited.

Haven’t seen a President/Governor/etc. who hasn’t taken the opportunity for a photo op/photo shop. Some just come off better than others. Mission accomplished anyone?

And how, perchance, is he holding it incorrectly? I shot rifles as a scout, and couldn’t figure out why my aim was off. It took someone with more experience than my Scoutmaster to show me how to properly hold a weapon. Maybe it takes a Secret Service agent with some balls to actually correct a POTUS?

All the basketball footage is faked, too, to cover up his plan to deprive people of their Constitutional right to own a basketball.

All the rest of your gripes and whingeing comes from that. Sheesh. Get a life, and accept that America is a democracy.

The purpose of the Second Amendment was to allow southern states to maintain militias to control slave revolts. That is all. It said absolutely nothing about untrained morons being handed assault rifles. Of course, people have “interpreted” the Bible to support all sorts of crazy ideas, so why not the Constitution?

If you want to know the founders’ intentions, read the Federalist Papers. Their fear was a standing army. Since they needed to ensure for the national defense, they needed militias that were well regulated by the states. They had no intention of allowing an armed insurgency.

“But I have seen enough skeet that you do not hold it parallel to the ground, that far up the barrel that high or that close to your cheek”That statement shows you know nothing about guns, partiicularly shotguns. I would like to see your black eyes after shooting a 12 gauge at whatever if your cheek is not firmly planted on the buttstock. His right hand is on the front of the forestock giving him better control to aim. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but skeet can be either high or low so a parallel to the ground ppostion is possible. The photo shows me someone who knows how to handle a shotgun (Which the photo is of). I have suspicions that the photo was posed because it is hard to get a good photo of someone firing at random skeet.I understand Michelle does not like skeet so maybe you could send her one of your favorite recipes. She may like it prepared your way.

P.S. I, as a Liberal, would love to have a shotgun like the President’s. I don’t need a 50 round drum magazine on an automatic shotgun.

Of course the Second Amendment is a guarantee of the right to posess a firearm “as part of a well-regulated militia.” Tell us, to which “well-regulated militia” do you belong? As a “looney liberal” I find it necessary to point out to you “concrete brained conservartives” that the 2nd Amendment makes NO mention of the personal right to own a gun, only the right to establish armed local defense units with able leadership (like the National Guard).

The SCOTUS is “liberal”? Really?? REALLY??? Like most of the decisions of the Roberts court, this was a 5-4 decision along the usual lines. The Roberts court is one of the most conservative in history.

God bless the President. America is a MUCH stronger nation because of him.
