Is Wally still listed as one of their most valuable field agents… or did they find out the truth?

I think that End town will be along side Maus, if anyone will! I’ve gone back and read it several times. As I have with End town. I have a few other cartoon books, like Gordo, and a few Calvin and Hobbes, but as long as I can buy End town books I will.I also have a complete set of “for better or for worse” that I would like to sell as a set, but local buy-back type books stores are not interested.

This story line reminds of a quote from the movie V For Vendetta. V speaking: “People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.” Aaron seems to be addressing several current issues in the strip.

Surfstuff 55 – I hope this was not taken the wrong way. By “creampuff”, I meant that in the flesh, Aaron Neathery is sweet, delightful, gentle and considerate of the feelings of others. I even hugged him once. But you’re right: He’s no pushover. When it comes to getting a job done, he’s as strong as iron. The task he is performing with Endtown is Herculean.

Wally’s probably going to see Mallard, who he’s had the most contact with in the government besides Flask, and who has the most clout to find out what’s going on. I suspect Mallard would be as surprised that Holly was arrested, and will want to know why also, especially if he thinks the council might be compromised.

You see, this is why in my dystopian future, I promise to have a more fair judicial system, where folks will fight in a gladiatorial metal arena to prove their guilt or innocence. I will call it… The Dome of Thunder!

I was afraid of this. He can not make matters better only make the worse if he is not careful. I have in my work seen this too many times. Going in angry never solves anything. He has to keep a cool head. He does have the right to ask questions about what is going on. THEY do not have to answer him but it will bring attention to him. Someone may come forward and tell him why. The rat with the glasses comes to mind. That one seemed professional and in control. Just facilitating things. Just he is NOT going to be able to break them out. Did his badge go darker or is it just an art issue? I remember when he got the badge from the Teacher he was warned to be careful as if it went black as that was a lethal dose of Amesworth radiation. It appears a deeper gray than before.

And a government afraid of the people? As long as the government controls the military complex and it is willing to follow government lead the government will have no fear. EVER.I saw this pointed out in a assault weapon discussion on CNN. This person stated she has assault rifles to defend herself against an unjust government and its military. He responded. They have M1A1 main battle tanks. Predator aircraft. Apache Longbow choppers. Satellite surveillance. Atomic weapons. 155mm artillery. Mortars. More guns and ammo than God. Do you really think they are afraid of you? This is a rights issue that will be solved by a civil discussion and good debating tactics. It will not end the issue just come to a mutual resolution that one can do what one wants as long as no one else is hurt by it. Basically Henry Thoreau and Walden Pond.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Wally really needs to count to 20, take a deep breath…and try to reapproach this in a more level headed and calm manner.

@Veteran also,I checked the color of Wally’s badge all the way to the beginning of this story and to me I don’t see enough difference beyond technical allowance (new ink cartridge equivalent). Most dosometers like doctors and radiologists use are accumulative in nature and after a while darken up over time just from natural radiation. That’s why they change them from time to time. I’m guessing his badge does it the same way. Besides, As I seem to understand it, the Amesworth radiation decays quite rapidly and unless what caused it is recreated, probably doesn’t exist anymore. I’m basing this on what I remember of Sparkplug’s vision recreated by the dittos.

When I hold a gun to your head and tell you to do it or else. Should you be punished later? A lot of what Nuremburg did was later adjusted for such a reason. I know. My History teacher in high school was a GI attorney at those trials. The young private, foot soldier was forced by his commanders to do the acts. The following orders defense was made by those giving the orders. Sergeants, officers, Lieutenants and such. Many of the lower ranked soldiers were sickened by them but they had an alternative to complaining. The Russian Front. So am I wrong? Don’t be so sure to state something is wrong just because you think so.The rats have always been that way. All flash and bang. Would they have done anything without some one telling them to do it. They never acted independently before so why now. The High Council seeded by Mr. Allgood’s people are the problem. Not the rats.

You just hate authority or what? Have you ever lived in a dictatorship. I have. West Pakistan 1964-67. I saw first hand how they dealt with discontented citizens. 30 caliber machine guns from the back of a Chinese military truck did the trick. Demonstration over in minutes. So let me ask you. Am I a “thug” just because I hold a badge or do my actions determine how I should be viewed?

Don’t worry folks. I am done. Back to the story. Just don’t like being called a thug but do consider the source. That question about who is in charge of Security does intrigue me. How much has Allgood gotten in place for his agenda? We already know about the council. Has he gotten some one in place in Security? Security responds to the Council orders. So is this person for, against, or indifferent Allgoods agenda? If this does not polarize Endtown I don’t know much that would. This will either put them at each others throats or unify them. Tricky high wire walking up coming on the wide world of Endtown. And No Net.

We do know one thing. His reference to a person acting as Liaison to the Police Security. Remember the long neck lady standing at the screen with the rat in glasses? That is probably her. So he does have some one in place there but are there others such as the chief, head stud duck or what. A liaison would not have authority to order action only observe.
