You’d best not walk away, unless you want that coffee in an uncomfortable spot.

teens need to learn that the web is not that safe, tread carefully through it, sometimes people pressure us to do what we never thought of doing, or someone can catfish us

Yeah – Getting all this across to Luann without coming off as the enemy – now that will require two great minds to think alike.

The issues would be whether Luann is involved in anything inappropriate – sexting, chatting with predators and perhaps arranging to meet in real life, looking at pornography, this sort of thing. All of these are problems in real life that parents need to be concerned about.

This has gone from being concerned about how much time Luann spends talking to Quill, to protecting her from the evils of the Internet? If she’s online talking to Quill, that ship has sailed.

Teens handle straight talk well. Just avoid the “you” word. Jesse Logan is a just one name in a long list of teens who committed suicide after learning a “private” sharing isn’t.

If she spent ten hours on the phone with Quill instead of on Skype, would the parents feel better?

Any self-respecting father has had the very same “walk-away”. Every self-respecting mother has used the very same right arm movement as Luann’s momma.

I’m a woman, and I’m with Dad on this coming plot. No father wants to, or should get pulled into, the sex talk with his daughter. Even with Mom in the room, any daughter would immediately shut down the topic, put their hands over their ears, and yell “La la la la la la!” It’s always been an ‘Ew!’ situation. I hope the mom backs off on this.

I’m not sure I quite understand all of you who think that mom and dad shouldn’t be concerned by this. Is it really that hard to imagine a scenario where the skyping becomes “Adult”? After that it just takes a messy breakup before they end up on a ex-girlfriend revenge site.

The main trouble with so much skyping is that it feeds obsession. At Luann’s age, obsession can be a harmful condition.

Either parent could, in theory, give a general warning. The only way a parent could blow it would be to:*1) Give a specific (gross!) scenario about what s/he did wrong at Luann’s age.2) Tell Luann she’s dumb or not trustworthy.3) ?

Darn— that coffee looks good & strong!Speaking of coffee… did you see that Burger King has a coffee promo for $.25— and it’s much better than the competitor’s.*Anybody seen Sideshow Starlet lately? If you do, and she’s still looking for work, please suggest that she remember government employment— federal, state, county/parish, city. They usually advertise on their own websites so applicants sometimes forget they can be great bosses!

The parents are almost uniformly boring.even when they talk to Luann or Brad..When they talk to each other, it is hardlyworth reading IMO..As bad as Bernice, hanging backward onthe bed..AND THAT IS BAD !

I think Luann is old enough to be able to have a talk such as this one without being insulted or embarrassed. The fact that she’s old enough is no guarantee that she’s mature enough, of course, That’s a completely different story. But as long as she doesn’t go on the defensive, I think this conversation should be able to go smoothly..Not to say it will, of course.

Frank was part of the big celebration when Luann had her first period. I think with this family they are all involved in the sex talks.
