    Good morning, Ballard St.!!

It’s still snowing here (Western Massachusetts) at 7:30 am, and it’s due to stop between noon and 1 pm, but high winds will blow all afternoon (calm now). We got about 20 inches so far, and fortunately, it has remained light and fluffy, so we have no power outage issues so far. Eastern coastal areas were not so lucky. They had heavy, wet snow that caused over 600,000 people to be without power.

    our cars in the driveway)

(the end of our driveway and the library across the street)

    (one of our back decks)

We’re still under a state of emergency and there is a ban of all traffic except emergency vehicles throughout the state.

Now, all we need is a week of 60° weather and this will be but a dim memory! lol

HOW DID YOU FARE, I. MUDD ????

When you rent, you don’t worry about plowing. As I type, I hear someone plowing, snow-blowing and shovelling all around, but it isn’t me. Bwa-ha-ha!

This is practically the only snow I heard of this winter. Those who don’t like it should just move to AZ, as I did.

I’d never have chosen Florida because that’s where my X went (even tho’ he’s long gone now) and they have hurricanes and alligators (no thanks). It’s a little chilly here today but I’ll be going to Whole Foods to pick up stuff for my “last meal”. My lover will be keeping busy there in Chi with all the cold; I’m glad it was milder during my visit.

I just got my filet and caviar (and a frozen panecotta) but I need to go to Sprouts for the watercress; this WF had the wimpy sprouting kind (I want a good 1/2 cup of chopped stems with my caviar -great flavor).

Yes, Alice’s ice cube LOL! Kids like that kind of stuff.Sorry to hear about Happy’s mom. Anything like my mom (who my brother had put in a horrible home). He had all the power (left him by dad) so I was helpless (she blamed it all on his GF – would not believe her son would do that to her). I would have given POA to one of my sons if she let me. It was good to know when she DID go to a better place.

He did great, didn’t mind at all…. and only ate about 23 pounds and 7 ounces of kibble.

I’ll still take the bus sometimes, especially if Elvis is needed at SCHAABS…but it’s soooo nice to have him on a Saturday or Sunday.

And sure, Dry and Bev and whoever else asked…I’d be happy to take you for a ride!Let’s wait till he gets a nap…. and maybe till there’s no snow, OK?

Got to catch up on saving all my shows to DVD. Project Runway Allstars still sitting there (2 ep) and I already have Season 11 saved (4 or 5-looks like 1 repeat). I need to write down the routines when someone shows it (like that easy way to put bold on and off). Anything on paper gets lost in my house.

I’ve not quite decided what to wear for Thursday’s dinner. I have a red dress, a 2 piece one in off white lace, a red silk blouse to wear with black velvet pants and a couple of other dresses in pastel silk chiffon. I may try them all tomorrow to see what looks best. Comfort matters too for such a yummy meal. I’m also not thrilled with the ice cream with desert- may just pick up a can of reddiwhip at the nearby chain store Monday (I need to fill 10 bottles at Water N Ice, anyway). With Dr’s appointments on both Thurs and Friday mornings this will be a hectic week.

Both he and I have a great deal of will power (another thing I admire about him) and I know already that I can relinquish ANYTHING for a period of time if I decide to. As I AM, however, motivated entirely by pleasures, the fewer items I have to give up, the easier it will be for me. Thursday will be pure delight in food and drink. The Ornish plan allows some yogurt and egg white, but NO coffee/chocolate, nuts or seeds and only minimal oils. My Dr may also want to eliminate all dairy, while adding back the nuts (I’d prefer to try the plan that is “proven”, but this is the closest Dr I have found to what I wanted for supervision in the plan. I have given up things that others would never dream of (and I always enjoy) so I KNOW I can. It is only a matter of deciding to do it. But just as I enjoy my man, now that I no longer deny myself, I will go back to enjoying a healthy and reasonable amount of the foods that I enjoy after all this is complete and I can have normal BP without meds.

Linguist … funny how we remember colors in black and white TV!

But I remember reading that the car they used was bright red, cos the producers thought the shade of grey it looked on film was more like a green car ought to look … just like “white” shirts were actually blue.

     •  Reply

Color TV meant they couldn’t do those things…. so images actually got a little worse for most people, cos we didn’t have color sets.

White shirts started looking dingy cos they were actually white. The blue had looked brighter.

I dunno whether Car 54 was still around… or if so whether tey switched to a green car. But I think it was gone.

I can’t whine about California weather, either ….not with friends getting two or three feet of snow.

We’ve had days in the 50’s and low 60’s, too….and snow is something we see here maybe every 5 or 10 years….

But it’s been colder than our usual February, in the high 20’s and low 30’s at night instead of the normal 40-ish, frost on my car every night, and we’re not used to it.We’re spoiled, you know.

Our houses, and their insulation, our cars, our clothes…. are mostly unsuited to a real winter.

It’s a Senior Dog Car Kibble…High Mileage stuff.

But you haven’t been around….And what with snow and all manner of other distractions…and the fact that Ballard St is closed to through traffic on Sundays…I guess it didn’t come together.

So I’ll re-post what I said then…. had to go look for it…..and I’ll add….Happy trails, Essex….do NOT forget to come back to us…and from Tuesday the 4th:“Thank you so much for the heads-up this time.YES, it did cause worry when you disappeared…I’ll not deny it.Please keep in touch whenever possible…. Ballard Street stretches as far as it must.Put a foot on the sidewalk, and wherever you are, you’re here!Hope you’ll at least be around long enough for that going away party….But if not and I don’t get another chance to say it…. you will be missed.”
