I did not judge the huge differences between us, Mexican and Chinese, education or wealth. I just knew I loved her. I knew she would be a great mother to my children. Her boss’s husband toasted her by saying “to the mother of my child.” Before our wedding, she saved up items to make her household. She organizes my life. People just feel happy around her. I am the most happy to be with her. She gave me a loving family. She gave big hugs and love to my two children. They knew they were loved. She had no grand plans of what they should do. All she wanted them was to be happy. I followed her lead. We are like two old shoes. We seem to know what to expect from each other.Forty years has gone by fast. I pray each night that God gives us a few more years. I’ve told her that I hope that I am first to go, because I would find it hard to live without her.Yes, marriage is a good institution if you find the right person.

Well, that’s one way to ask someone to marry you, Irving! Besides, isn’t it better to have a bit of weight on and thus have a semi-soft body instead of one made out of volcanic crystals that feel like rocks when the two of you try to hug each other?! ;)

Actually, Cathy and Irving, the reason those couples have the “perfect bodies” that they do is because they earn them by participating in those activities. eyeroll

The advantage of living in a colder climate is that we can do active stuff and keep reasonably well clad – lycra and neoprene and sometimes all-over goretex!

When they say “couples surfing”, they don’t mean CHANNEL surfing, guys! LOL!Hello Cathy clan! Sorry I haven’t been around for a few days… way too much going on. 3 more days of school, so it should ease up some soon, hopefully.THANK YOU for the nice messages for Jr! She read them and loved them so much! She really wanted to write a message back, but we must have gotten caught up in other things, I’m sorry! I’ve started packing, but there is so much to do! :-o

Woman President 2016If your group is planning to run with Clinton, I would counter image of her lack experience in military affairs by:1.Visit to the Joint Chief of Staff for a briefing of worldwide defense matters. Obama can make them do it.2.Gather a group of retired women generals and admirals as advisors around her. Women can make military decisions.Good luck.

Remember, Kennedy’s Bay of Pigs. The country forgot that. Just spin it like the VP ad person you are.

Woman President 2016They did these 40 years ago, but I don’t think they have changed it. You should see if Clinton can get the 5 minute briefing that Joint Chief of Staff Chief and representative services chief get each morning to get them up to speed about military matters. When I was in Navy Public Affairs, we develop area briefings for visiting Washington DC Navy VIPs. I was always amazed how they could sound like they knew what was going on locally. You could recruit retired military public information officers to brief her on military matters. It will impress the military people that she knows what they do. Ha, ha

I’ve always wondered about all these [supposedly] super-active couples with “buff abs and flat little tummies” . . . do they not have jobs, homes, chores, children, or any number of a thousand other things that keep the rest of us ordinary couples from having the free time it takes to hike, bike, climb, kayak, surf and work out together? Because, quite frankly, after I’m done doing everything I have to do every single day of my life, I’m way too exhausted to do anything else but collapse at the end of the day!!!!!

    Hi, rgcviper!

    lightenup: How’s Jr. doing?

Hello and Happy Monday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! What started off as a slight sore throat and cough on Friday morning developed into a full-blown, kick-ass cold that had me down and out the entire weekend — too tired and sick to do anything but lay on the couch, not wanting to do anything, and just wishing for the sweet relief that death would bring me. Thankfully, I lived through the worst of it and finally felt well enough to get online today for the first time since then so that I could come spend time with all my friends here on “Cathy’s Corner.” So nice to “see” you all again!!!!!

Actually not a bad idea. Whether they actually follow through with it, on the other hand …

HI, MOM. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

    Greetings, “Cathy” Clan.

For some reason, I still of you as that pretty face but quiet 16 year old girl. I know you have changed like I have. Your mom saw something in you. She had faith in you. You lived up to that faith. I did not know what would happen when I went into Navy. I could never dream that I married and raise my family in San Diego.I hope you are OK.
