Mom: If a magazine's more than a month old, get rid of it! If a newspaper's a day old, throw it out! If you haven't used a piece of clothing in six months, give it away!...See, Cathy?? It's all about having a system! Organization only works if you have a clear, concise system!! She opted for the "keep-the-debris-and-eliminate-the-mother-from-the-room" system.

On that basis you throw out all your summer clothes in Winter, and all your winter clothes in Summer …I bet her mother doesn’t do that!

Yeah, and the problem I have is that I don’t dress up very much, so I have a bunch of clothes that I don’t wear for a long time, but then I’ll need them for an event. And I don’t want to go shopping every time I’m invited somewhere or have something that I need to look nice for. Also, I can’t read my newspaper in one day, so it might sit around for a couple of days before I get to it. Good morning, Cathy clan!! Happy Friday!

Her mom’s ideas work in theory, I have a couple of newspapers I save because my daughter was in them for the spelling bee, and even my older son and myself made it in one of them with her. As for the clothes, I would say get rid of anything that you haven’t worn in a year and know you’re not going to wear it again.

I don’t bother with magazines and newspapers anymore because I can get that stuff online. But I do have many issues of cooking magazines from years ago since cooking and eating never go out of style.

I’m surprised that Mom is anti-hoarding. Seems as if Cathy would have taken after Mom. I do let magazines and newspapers stack up until I’ve at least had a chance to flip through them — it’s like I can’t let written things in my house go unread! I finally broke down and got a Kindle, and it’s useful, but I still prefer the book, magazine, or newspaper in my hands. Here’s to a wonderful weekend for all the great folks in the Cathy Clan / Corner / Crew!

Ussd newspaper is good for lots of stuff. I have a pile of it, but at least it is in the closet. The same closet I have to be careful how I open. lol Happy Friday all.

With Cathy’s mom being such a minimalist neat-freak, it makes me wonder how Cathy managed to become such a shopaholic hoarder? Or . . . maybe I just answered my own question!!! I think they’re BOTH whack-a-doos — just on completely opposite ends of the spectrum from each other!!!!!
;-)
Hi, rgcviper!
Susan: I left a message for you over at C&H. Have you seen it yet???
Hi, lightenup! Hope you’re feeling better today. You know . . . people being less mean . . . kids being more obedient . . . your back giving you less pain . . . etc., etc.!!!
Hello and Happy Friday, fellow “Cathy” fanatics. Hope you had a really great day and that you have an even better weekend!!!!! :-)

Tonight I’m actually on Cathy’s side. Has the world gone mad?
HI, MOM. Regarding your comment of “I think they’re BOTH whack-a-doos” … one question. “You THINK??” Ha.
Happy Friday, Clan.

Mom seems a little OCD here. It takes me much longer than a day to read some of the long articles in newspapers and magazines. I don’t buy the paper everyday anymore so that helps and I also have to really want something in it to buy a magazine. Clothes do pile up, but I’m getting better at getting rid of them. I also still wear a lot of my old clothes, so no need to throw them out. I don’t mind being like Cathy sometimes.
