Save 4,000 calories a month! " Etc. etc. etc etc. For a total potential savings of 88,000 calories a month...divided by 3,500 calories per pound... I could lose 25 pounds month! ...I guess "sensible" is all relative. Dad: A close relative. Your mother just calculated a 30-pound-per-month weight loss... Sensible cutbacks

Happy Sunday all. I agree, cutting portions has been the best way to lose weight. And cutting sugar too.

I’ve done it mostly like Cathy is reading about. I’ll choose something, like giving up chips or smaller portions, do that until it becomes a habit, and then I’ll choose something else. And now it’s all just a normal part of life for me, and I feel great! I have my vices (chocolate, wine, an occasional cookie or dessert), but I don’t go overboard.Happy Sunday, Cathy clan!

Slim-Fast diet drink (chocolate-flavored, of course!) + smaller portions + no seconds + less wine + no desserts + willing to be hungrier than usual = me losing 3 lbs. this week! Oh, wait . . . except that when I weighed last week, I was UP 2 lbs. from the previous week so I’ve only really lost 1 lb. over the last 2 weeks. {huge sigh} But still, that makes a total of 6 lbs. LOST since the first of the year — which is a whole lot better than the other way around!!!!!

Hello and Happy Sunday to the whole “Cathy” gang! Hope everyone’s had a really great weekend so far!
Looks like I may be joining everyone here on Sundays from now on. GretchensDad cut our cable mid-October last year and now he’s gotten so fed up with the continually-rising cost of the newspaper that he’s cancelled that too! So, unless the (newspaper) offers us a deal that’s too good to turn down and we become subscribers again . . . no longer having to do that part of my normal Sunday routine will free me up with enough time before going over to my mother’s house to allow me the opportunity to visit my favorite place in the whole online world to be: and that’s right here with all my whacky, nutty friends on “Cathy’s Corner”!!!!!

I’m learning portion control on things I really like and eating lighter most of the time. I’m down 6 lbs since the beginning of the year a lot more to go.

Hi Cathyites!! Congrats to you Mom!! And to you Shygirl!! I keep it just low enough to get my Weight Watchers free every month — and I’m satisfied with that. I learned a lot about portion distortion & control thru that program. If you want to see what’s wrong with our diet go see “A Place At The Table” it’s a real eye-opener.
