The life expectancy will be gone before the extended warranty expires and a newer version will all the must have rage.

Hahaha! One time when I was asked that, I asked if that meant that they thought their product was going to break soon. The guy didn’t know what to say. I obviously didn’t buy the warranty.Good morning, Cathy Clan!!

Don’t buy extended warranties. They are a waste of money. The warranties the store sells don’t cover everything that the manufacturer’s warranty does. When I worked for a famous electronic store chain years ago, they told me the purpose of the store warranty push was to pad their profit margin. Now the famous store chain is about to go out of business because of the internet. Many internet based stores (i.e. Amazon) don’t push the extended warranty. Most electronics don’t fall apart like that unless they’re cheap. As our local consumer reporter guy says, “don’t waste your money!” lol

But do buy the warranty on major appliances. They make alot of crap these days. Hope everyone has a decent day.

We almost never buy insurance on anything but a few days ago, while going through some old invoices, I discovered that we had insured my OH’s e-reader a couple of years earlier – something we had both forgotten.

Three days ago the e-reader broke down. Re-booting didn’t work – he was looking into buying a replacement, until I checked that policy again. Two days ago I phoned the insurers and spoke to a very kind and helpful man.

The replacement reader arrived, free of charge, yesterday, and is now up and running – and the insurance still has over a year to run, so it’s been transferred to the new one.

This has never happened to us before! But just this once, I’m so glad we did extend that warranty.

    :-)

Hi Cathyites!! My husband usually tells the clerks, that if we need an extended warranty, the item isn’t worth buying in the first place.

There’s nothing like truth in marketing. Or something like that.
