Personally, I can’t bear air fresh enters that smell like food. They make me hungry. Probably what’s responsible for the obesity epidemic….

Actually, there is research indicating that having a few yeast among your sinus microbiome REDUCES the chance of sinusitis. Not bread yeast, though… according to the research, the yeast used in making sake (Japanese rice wine) are beneficial.

The smell of baking bread comes from the ethanol. They do sell it in bottles, but not to minors.

@Night-Gaunt49 “Can you imagine the kind of work it would take to strip the meat of all those mice?”

You literally had me laughing out loud there. I often boil chicken or turkey carcasses for soup stock, but MICE??? I mean, would you have to skin and gut them first?!

I suppose that if you’re going to make cat food, as Nab suggested, you wouldn’t have to gut them. Just boil e’m up and put ’em through a meat grinder.

Does anybody remember a woman who used to to segments for NPR on using earthworms for food? She was from Missoula, Montana. Back in the 70s. I can almost think of her name.

Got it…her sign-off was always a kind of loopy-sounding “This is Kim Williams from Missoula, Montana.”

When I was a kid, our cats would leave what appeared to be just the skin of a mole and paws and nose left. Sometimes they’d leave a big pile of feathers and maybe a beak.

@Night-Gaunt49 “But they don’t can well.”

Ah. Yes, that would be a problem. But then, that lets us off the hook where all that picking of meat from bones is concerned. Good, ’cause we have better things to do.
