I thought Fritzi needed to find true love. She had been living like a nun.

I was eleven when that song came out. Only it was the shortversion.

Sometime today, I shall have to play “American Pie” a few hundred times, too.

A real Fritzi would have to wear a pacemaker warning.

I wanted to double check before posting, but I do see a little reference to Batman in panel 2. Fritzi’s doing the Batusi. An awesome strip today.

I remember my dad managed a small town swimming pool in Indiana in the summer of 1972. I would sit with the high school girls who would look after me (I was age five). I remember that song playing on the radio. The song brings back that summer every time to me.

Great songs and singers, though my favorite of the period was Homer & Jethro. (You name ‘em, we maim em’)They were a benchmark of the era. Where number of sales are used as a benchmark today to denote success, in that time period a song was considered a success if Homer and Jethro came out with a ripoff:How much is that doggie in the window – How much is that hound dog in the winder (the one with the long mangey tail)The yellow Rose of Texas – The yaller rose of Texas. (Her right eye looks at Dallas, her left at Ft. Worth)El Paso – El Paso #2 (Velveetas Cafe, instead of Roses Cantena)Battle of New Orleans – Battle of Camp Kukomonga (The #1 comedy song of 1959)

In a video, I think Fritzi would make Jessica Rabbit look like a frump.

I was in 8th grade when American Pie came out. It was one of the best 45 records I ever bought-at the Five and Ten store in town. That’s what I like!

“Archie’s TV Funnies”, ca 1970, had very short Nancy and Sluggo cartoons. In the one I remember, Sluggo got a job with a greengrocer and thought he was ging to get a bg salary. Instead he got a big celery.

Guy,I’ve been a fan of Nancy since the late ‘40s (I see I’m not the only 70+ reader and poster), and I love today’s Nancy and gang. Thank you, Guy, for keeping Ernie’s vision and keeping it current. I appreciate the subtle changes you have made (for the “purists” out there, Ernie Bushmiller made changes over the years, too). I heartily endorse Phil’s new look and Fritzi (wow). As with the other readers, I’m eager to see the story of Nancy meeting Sluggo, but I also enjy these little interludes, also.

(Dang fumble-finger typing: “enjy” is supposed to be “enjoy”)
