Unfortunately, Alex Jones made the gun lobby look like the raving redneck lunatics Mr. Benson is portraying here. He made no valid arguments on his appearance, and his sudden outburst immediately nullified any intelligent argument he may have been able to make. All I could picture was any less ravenous members of the NRA or the gun lobby hoping he would actually debate some valid points with Mr. Morgan doing a collective facepalm as he completely obliterated any validity he may have had..
There are plenty of less ravenous NRA members, but the NRA heads are absolutely crazed. To protest a gun buy-back program? On no coherent grounds whatsoever? The people have no clue what looks idiotic, and no introspection at all about the deaths of thousands of innocents that their irrational ranting has caused.
@ansonia — @moderate’s referring to the fear-mongering faction in the NRA that has created an “irrational fear of a tyrannical government America” that we “rational people America” must live with.
…well let me try to explain… the America in which people run thru theaters/malls/schools with assault weapons killing people at will. That is the America that the NRA has created.
Watched the interview, Jones came off just like my neighbor does every day after listening to Limbaugh. Totally absurd positions, shouting down any attempt at “civil discourse”,with more totally irrelevant ranting.
Guns are not the problem. Your irrational fear of them is. Let’s talk about real solutions not knee-jerk reactions to tragedy.
Agreed. I promise not to react in a knee-jerk fashion when gun owners stop reacting to the phrase, “How can we curtail gun violence?” with the phrase “No one’s gonna take my guns.” It’s a two-way street.
All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. – Thomas Jefferson
Props to Mr. Jefferson. Now, a question to ponder: do you think we would have the Civil Rights laws we now have if Dr. King had advocated that all disenfranchised people arm themselves heavily? Did Ghandi start an armed uprising?
For those who feel that they may someday need assult weapons to protect themselves from the gov’t- I have something for you to think about:*The US is polically polarized, but our elections tend to be close, and there are 10s of millions of Americans on each side of most issues. What makes you think that a hypothetical gunfight will be only between you and “the gov’t”?*It is very likely that there will be many American citizens on both sides. You won’t just be shooting at “the gov’t”. You’ll also be shooting at your neighbors.*Don’t think that could ever happen? Read about our Civil War.*Now isn’t there a better way to “protect yourself from the gov’t”? How about voting, writing letters to your Congressmen, showing up at their local campaign rallies?
Why is it the righties tell us the main purpose of the Second Amendment is to keep the citizens armed to the teeth so we can overthrow the government if necessary, but they also want to keep that government’s military as large as possible?
He is speaking his mind but he is NOT a citizen of the United States of American and doesn’t have OUR constitutional rights so he IS guilty as stated and should be deported!
I ain’t no genius, local or otherwise, but I’d like to point out that MAD was a big gamble that we almost lost. I’m not interested in playing for those stakes.

Just something to think about.

Um, only thing is, Piers is not an American, therefore no Constitutional rights are guaranteed to him.

…SPECIFICALLY: the NRA made sure they were armed to the teeth.
