Generally when you block, the arm or wrist can get broken depending on where you got hit, with what and how hard. When you punch, it would be the hand that would get broken and not the wrist.
I saw that on TV. This guy who did was a self-defence instructor who looked like he was going to hit this jerk with his right fist but nailed the jerk with his left elbow.
