    I sure hope so, Chuck.

Incidentally, I saved the comics page from the day after Schultz died, where pretty much every other comic strip was a Peanuts tribute. A lot of footballs laying in empty fields that day…

The philosophy and humor of “Peanuts” has added immeasurably to human culture. Rest in peace, Charles Schultz – your legacy is secure.

I’d wager that yes, Charles Schultz did meet Willie Mays as his hometown, Santa Rosa, CA is just north of San Francisco where Mays played and still makes frequent appearances at games.

Neither his bio nor his Wikipedia page mention anything about Carmel. He was born in Minneapolis and raised in St. Paul, MN.Hank Ketcham, creator of Dennis the Menace, on the other hand, though born in Seattle, WA, settled in Carmel, CA, after WWII.I think you have the two confused.

Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the others are on the ball field. Lucy holding a football. Charlie brown holding a ball, his hat by his side. Shroeder playing Amazing Grace on the piano. All heads down in respect and mourning. In the sky, Snoopy flying his Sopwith Camel, the birds in close formation behind him, an empty space between the birds. In the distance, a rainbow. All of those on the ground knowing that Charles Schulz is looking down and this is his way of saying that tomorrow will be a brighter day and that everything is going to be alright.Rest in peace, Mr. Schulz.

I’m wondering why I never entered any spelling bees. I think it’s because I knew, even then, that my memory for alphanumeric character strings is truly treacherous.
