Ok, Mr. stickler, always use a hyphen in the word “e-mail.” See, hyphens can go away over time. Even words like"tomorrow" used to have a hyphen (to-morrow), but was dropped over time.

I think the implication is that Jason is such a geek that he can hear the hyphen (or lack thereof) in the way she says it.
