I believe in doing the right thing because it’s the right thing, not because some guy with a fancy hat or some 2000 year old book says it’s the right thing to do.
Living in the past isn’t too cool, but LEARNING from it is wisdom. Planning on a future, based on a theology of fear of death, and looking for an “out”, is also dangerous. Living in the present, with an objective of making THAT better for everyone, with a future better for those left behind, is also some “wisdom”.
Not believing in Hell, or “Heaven”, isn’t “atheist”, just a view that putting all your chips on the table, when you’ve dealt yourself a lousy hand, and everyone else as well, is a bad bet.

FWIW, I’m an atheist. I also believe Jesus said many good things on how we should live our lives. Today’s christians don’t bother to actually listen or follow the teachings.

While Ima rarely says anything with which I can agree, and often dislike, comments like yours provide ammunition for the worst of the conservative trolls. A progressive attitude should reflect a higher standard. You should consider copying your comment, delete it, and then re-post it with a little bit more thought, if not class. There are enough people claiming to be “believers” without practicing the love and compassion Jesus and Mohammed preached.
