If a spear gun I would say go for it. He would have to learn abour water density, the bending of light in the water, and why all the fishes are getting away laughing their head off while he stands like an idiot on the bank. A nice way to sneak in some science in an adolescent skull.

The problem with shooting fish in a barrel… is that if they are not within I think it’s 3 inches of the top of the water, the bullet will disintegrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd-MpXCMcIs

Why complicate things? Dynamite with “underwater”-type priming cord quickly produces results without the need for precise aim… :-)

Toby’s idea about fishing brings to mind a couple of questions…………… …………………….. Does Toby know where his hamburger comes from or how it got to be hamburger? Better yet – does he know what end of the chicken the egg comes from?

Strod – they also said you don’t have to aim for fish, as the shockwave is what kills the fish.
