Now-a-days it’s ‘hide from the active shooter’ drills. So sad..

We used to have bomb drills, we’d have to hide under the desks. As if that was going to help. That was the 60s. I love how Gray got in line with the kids ;)

back in the 50’s when everyone was afraid of Russia, we had duck and cover under our desk and also we had tornado drills in the basement of our school and all the boys and girls had to get down and face the wall and the girls had to pull their skirt over their heads. Of couse in the 50’s all little girls wore dresses with petticoats.

I was in elementary school in the second half of the 1960s. I don’t recall that we ever had a duck-and-cover drill – only normal fire drills.

Just regular fire drills, but then, when I was that age, there was a war on. WW-II – it was in all the papers.

In the 50’s and 60’s, I lived in Bronx, New York. We just had fire drills and the sirens used to blow at 12 noon for lunch hour. I don’t think they blow them anymore and I wonder if they even still work without testing them.

Late 40s and early 50s the cue was “DROP”.We were to go under the desk and face away from the windows.
